About
Tongariro Track Transport provides a shuttle service for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We go each morning in line with best wind conditions of the day and go at one time so you have a great day weather wise... We drop our guests off at Mangatepopo and pick up from Ketahahi. The times of drop off and pick ups vary depending on the weather conditions on the day and the number of guests wishing to use the service. For more details please call Adventure Lodge and Motels between 8am and 7.30pm . Pick ups usually though every hour on the hour - you have little wait time!

Fantastic service. Gillian was amazing and had interesting Information. She brought us right up to the start and picked us up at the carpark right at the end. No need to walk al the way to the road. She even had some water and cool beers for us 👍!

It is hard to describe just how amazing Gill the owner was in helping me complete the Crossing in early May - when all the other shuttle companies were either closed for the season or uncommitted to dates, and the guided tour companies were uncontactable, indifferent, or fully booked.
In stark contrast, Gill took a personal interest in my situation and vowed to help me - which she absolutely did. She managed to pair me with another adventurous solo soul, and orchestrated some complex logistics - including the hiring and delivery of crampons - just the evening before we went.
The whole ‘shuttle’ (so much more than a shuttle) experience was so slick and professional, and simply wouldn’t have happened unless Gill was genuinely empathetic, and deeply committed to helping her clients achieve their aspirations.
The other companies couldn’t have cared less, and we would never have had the amazing opportunity we did, without Gill - and her son in law Kurt - who drove us to the trailhead.
She was our only option, and it turns out she was the best possible option in any case. On the day we completed the crossing we were the only 2 to do so. Everyone else was either cancelled or turned around part way through by their organised tour guides, who pulled the pin way too easily in my opinion.
I am deeply indebted to Gill and Kurt for making this ‘once in a lifetime’ experience happen, when no one else would. She is a proper superstar!

Far more than just a shuttle service - John provided a wealth of knowledge, lots of history and info about the area, and very kindly came and picked me up early when I finished before the first scheduled pick up time. Great communication and lots of helpful safety info provided as well, and as a solo hiker I felt safe knowing they knew I was up the mountain alone. Thank you!

We booked in the night before where they checked the weather and gave us some tips and what to expect. Got to select what time we wanted to leave in the morning and sure enough they were bang on time. Jhon our driver was very friendly guy and you can tell has a passion about the area. On the way to the start of the track Jhon told us abit about the local history and land marks we drove past. We were given a good safety brief if anything would happen and what we should do. We were well informed by Jhon with everything we needed to know before we set off.
The hike was epic had awsome views, easy to follow and toilets along the track every 3-4kz..new Zealand you beauty.
When we came out on the other end Jhon was there waiting for cheerful and classy packing our bags for us and making sure everyone was good. We had no pressure to get back by a certain time and would highly recommend.
We were lucky enough when we got back to the drop off Jhon wonderful wife had a few cold drinks for us to enjoy..diffently went beyond and above for us.
The hike was epic had awsome views, easy to follow and toilets along the track every 3-4kz..new Zealand you beauty.

Excellent service, on time, bright and breezy. Lots of information and tips. The offer for early pick up from the end was really nice, and taken up on. I have hiked the crossing several times prior and never had such a helpful and friendly, knowledgeable pick up/drop off. Many thanks.

Our tour guide and driver Dutchy was absolutely awesome. Knowledgeable, friendly and lighthearted. At 6am before an epic 6-8 hr walk, this was the best start to the day! Service was perfect, departed on time, communication around booking was great.

We booked on Saturday and were on the bus at 7a.m. Sunday. Great intro explaining the region, legend and the walk while driving us to the start. He even offered a earlier pick up of 1.15 if we needed. The walk was everything expected thanks to Dutchy. It was busy on the crossing. Then we were uplifted at 2p.m. Dutchy checked every one off and checked their welfare. Dropped us off to our cars. Pointing out the places to get a well deserved beer.
