About Spellbound Glowworm & Cave Tours
Our tours are friendly, informative and fun. With no more than 12 people on board, raft beneath many thousands of fabulous glowworms to see them at their very best. We visit private caves away from the regular, more commercial tours. Our caves are on a beautiful hill country farm and your guide is also your host, so expect a really enjoyable and memorable tour of our two magical caves.

After reading a few reviews we booked a tour, lowering our expectations as we thought the tour possibly couldn't be as good as the reviews claimed. We also prepared our kids that commercial photos may be manipulated, or are taken on particular good occasions, so they shouldn't be disappointed. We really didn't expect the roof of the cave to open as if we were star gazing on a clear day. So many glowworms! It was really awesome, in the true sense of the word. Appreciated the great guiding, an also the clear instructions on when to keep the cameras and torches off, as it was quite disturbing when someone accidentally turned them on in the dark. Definitely recommend doing the combined trip, as the glowworms and the dungeon crawling are quite different experiences. What more to praise? Enjoyed the morning tea, and appreciated getting some pictures for free after the tour, as our cameras really didn't do justice to the experience. Go with the glow!

Highly recommend!! We did the Spellbound essential Glowworm tour as a family with five year old son and all found it fascinating and an extremely enjoyable experience. Our guide Hohepa was excellent, he was knowledgeable and very personable. We can't wait to return.

We booked the Glowworm and Cave Essential Tour. We were picked up by Norm who was kind and interesting and carefully lead myself and my two young children on a great tour of two different caves sharing their history and lots of tidbits of knowledge along the way. The Glowworms were amazing! So many, so bright! I highly recommend this tour.

We booked with Spellbound after reading around - and were really happy with our choice! We are a family of two adults and two young children (aged 7 and 4). Norm was our guide - and he was really good! Affable and chatty without being intrusive, he shared his extensive knowledge about the surrounding landscape as well as the caves itself. We took the full tour - so we were picked up at the Waitomo General Store; I recommend this if (like me) you're not used to the countryside roads. The spirit cave was an easy walk, and very interesting (including Moa bones and a few other animal bones). The glow worm caves was the highlight of our trip - this tour brought us on a raft into a cavern that's absolutely filled with glow worms! Magical experience drifting in the dark as our eyes slowly adjust - revealing more and more worms that we could not see before. Strongly recommend this company for anyone who is here for this experience
