We debated how best to see the glowworm caves and eventually decided on Spellbound and we are thrilled we did. Spellbound takes you to 2 different caves, one of which is filled with the most amazing glowworms that far exceeded expectations. The cave that the...More

There are lots of places one can see glowworms in New Zealand and Australia, but I don't think any of them can be as awesome as those we saw on the Spellbound tour in Waitomo, New Zealand. Our tour was an awesome experience! The tour...More

My partner and I have both been on numerous cave tours in other countries, but nothing could prepare us for the beauty that awaited us in the glowworm caves of Waitomo. The spellbound tour was particularly great, as you get to experience two different types...More

This is a small, 12 person tour and luckily for us there were only 4 people. The caves are on a private property and are only viewed thru this company. Everything is provided and the tour is a good length. We got to see plenty...More

It was a good tour and a small group (only 4 of us) made it even more enjoyable. We noticed some mixed reviews on here about the guide but we found him a bit of fun and full of knowledge and love for the caves,...More

Spellbound is all about seeing the glow worms and understanding a bit about their life cycle. The number of worms viewed is almost beyond belief. In the second cave time is devoted more to local history and cave formation, although you will see more glow...More

We avoided the masses at the main glowworm caves and booked in with Spellbound who have access to private caves. The office is located next to the General Store in the Village. Really good tour with a knowledgeable caveman (!) on the area who collected...More

The small group tour arranged by Spellbound was just perfect. We were the only group while visiting the caves. No noise, no rush. Our guide gave us all the time we wanted to enjoy the amazing sight. Highly recommend.

We did the 3.25 hour tour. Think that's the only one they offer. I'd recommend calling and getting your name on the list as I think they fill up fast. Was a wonderful tour! Free phone (in NZ) is 0800 773 552

I'm travelling with my 73 year old friend who has had 2 knee replacements and recovering from a broken bone in her hand. She wants to see glowworms and I've visited the caves many years ago and think she can cope but getting in and out of the boat may require some help. Is this possible or is there a more passive way of seeing the caves?
