Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An amazing place to go while visiting the Waitomo area. It is approximately a 30 min drive from the main village along Te Anga Road. From the parking lot, it is about a 10 minute walk to the main veiwing platform. Here you will walk along a limestone gorge to veiw the bridge/archway over a stream. Supposedly this once was an entire cave system. The whole area is very lush and definitely gives off Jurassic Park vibes. Not far from here is Marakopa Falls, approximately a 5 minute drive which is also worth a visit.

Nice little riverside boardwalk leading to some stairs and an overhead limestone 'bridge'. Well worth checking out. There is also a short loop track available which takes you across some farm land before heading back to the car park. There is a toilet at the start of the walk. We would also recommend checking out Ruakuri walkway, Piripiri Cave, The Waitomo walkway, Opapaka Pa walkway and the Marokopa Falls, which are all free and nearby.

Accessed by a short walk along the side of a stream in a steep sided narrow gorge, you cross a small bridge and there it is, a MASSIVE slab of rock above your head spanning the gorge. It is truly impressive. Apparently the gorge was a long tunnel many years ago before most of the roof fell in, leaving just the slab that you can see now. Well worth the trip. Appx 30 mins by car from Waitomo on the Te Anga road. Combine with the equally impressive Marokopa Falls.

This natural feature was truly worth the extra 20 min drive from Waitomo. It’s a short easy walk from the carpark for all fitness levels, even on a wet day. Don’t bother continuing on to find the oyster fossil unless you’re keen for a walk through farmland.

We did this walk with our 4 year old daughter. Stunning walk, worth the drive out. Lots of steps. Just don't bother going to the toi toi cafe afterwards unless you want a cheap microwaved pie. That's about all they have.

What an amazing place of natural beauty. Incredible stone structure formed by years of water erosion with the most stunning native bush as a bonus. The road in is windy but beautiful. Go thru the walkway onto the farmland for further stunning rock formations.

A nice well maintained walk to a 17m natural arch. The trail takes 20 minutes to do the loop including the walk through the bush/paddock. Nature is beautiful. We had it to ourselves and it was really peaceful. The drive from Waitomo was very windy but you can also pop down road a bit further to see the falls which was really worth the effort.

Like stepping back in time! So peaceful and surreal and simply amazing.
The path was closed, so like others before us, we snuck through the barrier to get the full experience.
One of the best free experinces we've ever done!

If you're in the Waitomo area, this is a 35 minute drive from Waitomo village, and 5 minutes from the spectacular Marakopa waterfall. Coming from the village, parking is on the right hand side of the road; be careful turning in as it's on a curve and there might be traffic to cross. Easy walk through a gorge to the main attraction; crosses a bridge where you'll have to hold onto your kids' hands (lest they fall over the edge) and you're under the limestone arch in about 5-10 minutes. It's 57ft of wow, and hard to capture on camera. If you carry on through, you'll climb a couple of stiles, go through farmland (watch the cow pats) and up and around. Loop takes maybe 20 minutes, tops.

Well worth the drive. Only 30 mins past the Waitomo Glow worm caves and a short 15 min walk (return). A beautiful, natural formation at the end of a serene boardwalk along the stream

Hi. I wonder how much time taken for this walk
Written 29 March 2018
We spent over an hour there, but the walk each way is an easy 10 - 15 minutes. It's absolutely worth it for the bridge itself and the beautiful canyon on the way.

It was an easy walk with many photo stops along the way. Maybe 15-20 minutes each way. An easy, enjoyable walk at your own pace. Well worth the effort. So beautiful!
