About 1 hour from wanaka. Roads are unpacked and you go over a few creeks and streams. Pass lots of farm animals along the way. Hike is a solid 3 hour return. Can’t see much from first lookout so worth hiking up 30 more mins...More

The walk starts with a suspension bridge. A bit steep at the beginning but with time one can get used to it. Very well signposted track. At the end the view was breathtaking.

Possibly the hardest part of this excursion is getting to the start. There are 28km of unsealed track to cover. It is in good condition but there are about 10 fords to cross and if it has rained they may be problematic for small vehicles....More

This is a nice walk through Beech forest constantly rising to the two lookouts. There are many good views of waterfalls and you walk beside the river all the way. It is worth the walk to the second lookout as the view there is much...More

An hour outside of Wanaka this is a great track that will take you a couple of hours, parts are tough with narrow passes requiring a head for heights, it also needs a the person to have a resonable level of fitness as there are...More

When you find yourself driving along a country dirt road with cows, don't get discouraged. You do have to cross some fiords, so if the weather is wet, probably not advised if you have a tiny rental car. The hike itself is a lot of...More

This is an easy to mid hike to view one of New Zealand's Glaciers. Easy walk over farmland and then across a swing bridge for an mild up hill walk through native beech forest to open country and amazing views of Rob Roy Glacier. Best...More

Nice little hike through the valley and forest up to the lookout points. As others suggest don't stop at the first lookout the second is much better. Definitely recommend this as a hike for those who aren't up for the steep incline of Roy's Peak....More

In my top 5 hikes in New Zealand, if you miss this you're crazy! The track is easy to follow and not difficult (we did this and hiked to the hut in one day). There's so many little places along the way to stop and...More

Overall I really enjoyed this hike. I must say, you have to leave early to have enough time for this hike. The road itself takes ~1hr from Wanaka, and isn't the friendliest. There are multiple tiny steams you need to ford, and the road is...More

The drive from Mt Cook to Wanaka takes about 3 hours, then you need to drive out to the Raspberry Flats car park which has 10km of dirt gravel road at the last section - total drive is about 30km from Wanaka. Some hire car... More

This is a very very safe hike with no scary cliffs. Indeed there is a climb involved and there are a few spots with a steep climb along mountain on one side and a drop on the other. But the walking path is very wide and if u... More
