20 minutes drive out of Wanaka you find the car park. 5 minutes to Diamond Lake, then a steeper uphill, initially on steps, but winding path follows. Best to do Western route up, and Eastern down.

A nice maintained track for short walks and a little bit of physical excursion up to the lookout. A fair few steps up to the lookout but you are rewarded by a very nice vista and peaceful outlook, not to mention overlooking a lovely lake....More

This is a difficult hike with a lot of uphill. The trail is good and views at the top are amazing. The short walk around Diamond Lake is beautiful. If you choose this hike be prepared for some hill work.

View from the lake wanaka view point was beautiful. We were chasing an easier day after a few strenuous hikes over the previous days. If you are ok climbing stairs this is an easy and quite short walk.

Fantastic walk! However, do be cautious and only really suitable for advanced hikers in winter. I had read quite a few reviews on here, as well as using the DOC site and learnt that the Eastern side was the easier climb with the better views....More
