We have just got back from an amazing trip away riding at the Birchwood station. What a blast. We are 3 friends that took our 3 teenage daughters on a trip to remember. We all ride at home and it was so awesome getting to ride John and Angie’s beautiful well behaved horses. They were so sure footed and gave you so much confidence navigating some tricky mountain terrain. The scenery was incredible. We were so well fed and the accommodation was great. We had loads of laughs. It’s a trip we will always remember and we will definitely be back. Thank you so much John, Angie and your team!

I highly recommend Adventure Horse Trekking. This was my third ride with them. John and Angie are lovely people. They are so friendly and helpful. Their horses are fabulous. They are well trained, well looked after and know their job. I felt very safe riding with them. The places they take you are absolutely stunning. The views are incredible and you go places that are not accessible to the general public. The food is good hearty kiwi tucker and there is plenty of it. All round I had a fabulous time and will definitely do this again.

I can't speak highly enough of Angie and John and their team of awesome horses. I'm 71, have ridden all my life, but never have I ridden through such amazing vistas and on such a safe, reliable horse. The horses know their job and are so sure footed, they calmly take you to places only accessible by foot or horse, crossing braided rivers, snow covered mountains in the background, ending up in some delightful isolated place for our packed lunch. I recommend this company to anyone who wants to see the real New Zealand with the time to appreciate it, no matter what their level of riding. Oh, and Angie is the best cook ever!

Meeting up with John and Angie and their horse family once again at Adventure Horse Trekking was just what I needed. Exploring Lake Ohau and its tributaries on horseback was an experience I will never forget. The scenery was amazing, and all the horses instill you with confidence wherever the trial may take you. Angie, John and their wranglers Kat and Jessie, thanks so much for making this trip such a wonderful and fun experience. I will hold onto this until my next trip. :)

I loved the Birchwood Station Trek. I hadn't ridden for at least ten years but with a bit of practise beforehand and padded pants and chafing cream I was fine for the ride. The horses were perfect for the job, sure footed and fit. I had Ringo and he was great. Never put a foot wrong. The scenery was utterly magnificent. If you love the Lord of the Rings version of New Zealand then this is for you. I grew up in this area and had always wanted to ride here. It surpassed my expectations on every level. John, Angie and Cat were great hosts and very accomplished horse people. They took us to some amazing places and we shared some terrific stories. I would recommend them to anyone and I can't wait to go back .

This was the trip of a lifetime. Angie and Jon make the entire experience worthwhile. The wranglers all know what they are doing and the atmosphere is incredible! They even surprised me with a cake for my birthday:) Would 1000/10 recommend if I could. The horses are pretty great too:)

A fantastic trip with awesome people and horses. The guides were fantastic and we had all so much fun together. I feel blessed to have seen the remote, hard to get access to areas of New Zealand. The views were fantastic and we were treated by the weather gods to great days and stunning nights.
