We stopped and enjoyed our lunch in the park by the water. Kids had fun feeding the ducks and playing in the playground.

One of the 'must visit' places. Not the most beautiful lake but nonetheless still very scenic. Definitely a place for photos.

The lake is an awesome place to hand out in both summer and winter. There is a great playground for little kids, fantastic boating for bigger kids, we love sitting on the waters edge eating fish and chips. Really must visit

Wanaka beautiful in the rain and in the sunshine... absolutely beautiful looking over the lake and admiring the snow capped mountains in the distance - would love to come back in Summer and swim in the lake and kayak! Don’t forget to go and visit...More

Small town centre but very busy. Go to the information centre. Really friendly staff who can help with bookings and advice. Great place for walking and lots of really good quality places to eat. Scenery absolutely amazing! Puzzling world is a must see.

Such a beautiful place. Try and get away from main area. Views are breathtaking. Kids loved stone skimming and the huge eels!

If you’re travelling through Wanaka it just has to be done. And to save you searching the shores of Wanaka lake like we did, if you are in town, with your back to the shops, and facing the lake, it is at the far left...More

Visited on Wednesday 9th May. While you are in Wanaka stop and explore along the lakes edge to see the views. If time permits go out on the lake as well. Plenty of parking even for a large campervan.

Easy but also a bit difficult question ? Depend on your preference of hotel type. Most of the hotels are still at the walking distances from the lake front, where all facilities usually located, restaurants, cafes, shop... More

If you want some exercise, the nearest Big Hill is Mt Roy. Drive 6 km N to the car park on the W of the road. The higher you go, the more you can see.

You might do the stargazing tour at the top of the Skyline Gondola before you leave Queenstown. It is excellent and the telescopes and commentary are first rate. They start at 10PM and go for about an hour and the sky is... More
