Lake Wanaka isite is your one-stop travel shop for enquiries and bookings for your entire trip. We are a team of friendly and knowledgeable travel experts. Our aim is to provide impartial, comprehensive information on activities, transport, and accommodation both locally and throughout NZ. We also want you to have an amazing experience in our beautiful area! We are open 9am - 5:30pm everyday except Christmas Day.

Kristen was marvellous & got us organised & onto a tour with Rosco's Kayaking & a Southern Discovery tour, both in Milford, with ease. We were greeted by Ling Wei (?) who was so friendly and informative she discussed our options and gave excellent recommendations based on our preferences. The Alpine helicopter tour we booked was amazing as was the lake Wanaka boat and Island trip. It was a bonus to meet up with her on her day off at one of the activities and she recognised us and continued to be helpful and informative. We visited the site for information on a boat trip and also helicopter options as our Helihike in Franz Josef got cancelled.
We were greeted by Ling Wei (?) who was so friendly and informative she discussed our options and gave excellent recommendations based on our preferences. The Alpine helicopter tour we booked was amazing as was the lake Wanaka boat and Island trip.
It was a bonus to meet up with her on her day off at one of the activities and she recognised us and continued to be helpful and informative. Such a pleasant lady

Call in to the i-site for great deals and info about the area. Liz was very helpful and recommended the boat trip (Dual Image) out to the island Mou Waho. Walked to the top with great views and wonderful bird life, even saw a Weka. Being pest free this island reminds us of what the whole country could sound like.
If you want more excitement go for a swim in the small lake on the top of the island.
Tim (captain and guide) had lots of knowledge about the flora and fora and history of the area.

The lovely young lady was very friendly and helpful. She listened to our wants and needs and offered advice and ideas accordingly. She went to a lot of trouble making phonecalls to tee up various activities .

Emily and Liz helped us months before we left for our NZ holiday, during our visit and even after. They just kept generously giving. Our complicated trip was seamless because of these two amazing women. Private shuttles they’d organised would arrive just as other tour vehicles left. I loved Wanaka and their friendliness and competence played a huge part in that. Can’t wait to return and drop in to say hi again!

Thanks to Ling-wei we experienced 4 diverse tours, ensuring a comprehensive experience. She gave us great tips for cycling, walking & eating on our own. One of our trips had to be rescheduled due to weather, which she also sorted out. Thanks Ling-wei!

Thank you to the wonderful helpful and enthusiastic staff at insight Wanaka for recommending and arranging our flight cruise from Wanaka to Milford Sound with Southern Alps air. The trip was fabulous with spectacular views and something we will never forget. My husband and I would highly recommend this trip.

The staff were really helpful as they had offered to help me to call for a taxi as there's no official taxi stand in Wanaka. In addition to that, they had also told me that I could store my luggage with them at NZD5 so that I could explore the town, including the beautiful lake before making my way to the lodge via taxi which is rather costly - NZD20 per way.

The Wanaka visitor information centre, situated just outside the town, not far from the Lake, is interesting for a variety of creations in the centre. Even the washroom was a novelty. Worth visiting.

Hi, I have a family of 5 and would like to do a helicopter ride up to one of the mountains on the 22nd of July but need to be back about noon , any suggestions please

Hi,
We have three great helicopter companies in Wanaka offering options to get up into the mountains. There are two based at the Wanaka airport, Wanaka Helicopters and Alpine Helicopters. Their flights generally include heading over the township and stunning lake then up to the mountains so a full vista of our area and the other, Aspiring Helicopters is based, as the base of the mountains so your heli time is straight up and into the mountains. These flights are all weather dependent so if conditions aren't quite right they won't fly.
When you say "Mountains", did you want to get into the snow, on top of glaciers or just see beautiful Mt Aspiring and the surrounding mountains?

Day trip from Queenstown by bus. Would like to visit Puzzleworld, Transport & Toy museum & Warbirds & Wheels. With no car, how could visit all three of these places & would it be possible to do all three in the bus timetablle time frame? Christine Dykstra Australia

HI there, if you wanted to you can walk to Puzzling World from town, this would take around 30min. Then a taxi to the airport would allow you to go to National toy & Transport as well as Warbirds and Wheels. You would be look at around $25 for the taxi each way.
