About
Snow Farm NZ is now open for winter from the 20th June 2020 until Sunday 20th September. We offer backcountry hut overnight stays, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and a Snow Fun Zone with tubing which is great for young children. A visit to this resort is a great way to experience the beauty of New Zealand's alpine environment and take in views of the stunning Southern Alps. Our cafe is currently not operational with Covid 19 but we have snacks and drinks available as a substitute.

    Early season skiing
With little snow to work with the conditions were fantastic with clean well prepared trails. The new base setup is far better than expected and well organized. Great place to get away from the crowds. BYO lunch and enjoy.

    Incredible experience
It had been 25 years since my last visit but the time on the field was as amazing as I remember from then. Despite being the beginning of the season and the snow being low, the skiing was brilliant, the views spectacular, but what brought everything together were the outstanding staff. They displayed real professionalism, a friendliness, a heart that was felt instantly but most of all a care and interest for those on their field. The instructors (Hannah and Ben) we had were something special. Musters hut was one of the best huts anyone could wish to stay in. It was warm, clean and inviting as well as designed to bring strangers together during there time there. And a big shout out is needed to those that found my iPad I had left on top of the car and kept it safe. Not to mention the 4 different people that found us on our return to base to insure we had the iPad back. A truly incredible experience on a fantastic field with a remarkable team running the place. Thank you does not cover how fantastic the experience was.

Great place for first snow experience!
Came up to Snow farm with our family including our two year old. Was her first experience in the snow. The car park was so close to the snow and it made it very easy for us to walk with our toddler. The snow tubes were so much fun. They also had great gear to hire. Very happy with the snow boots I hired! Thank you Snow Farm! We will be back!

    Girls Weekend
We 'skied' in and spent the night at the hut. We booked the Meadow Hut for the night for a group trip. The Snow Farm is a great experience for a group night away. Cross country skiing is not an easy skill to learn within the hour, however luckily, the hut is within walking distance! Next time I think I would snow shoe in, however we had a lot of laughs. The views were amazing and luckily we had great weather to top it off. The road up to the snow farm is well maintained and it was an easy, safe drive up. The hut is well set up and all you need to bring is food and your sleeping bag - even an 'inside' loo.

    had sweat on
first timer for classic cross country ski. due to the lack of snow when we visited, not all courses were open. different from alpine ski, and i enjoyed. i think it was great for my teenage child to get used to snow in cross country ski than alpine ski. i drove a 2WD sedan. the access road was wide, free of snow/ice on the day, no problem, although i carried tyre chain as caution. staff were very helpful. would like to try skating cross country instead of classic next time. i will visit again!

    School Group Stay
Snow Farm are very accommodating of School groups. They are flexible and try to work in with your plans, and the weather and snow conditions that are best. They provide great tuition and insight into how to make the most of your stay. The Musterers Hut is perfect for large group stays and provides everything (apart from got showers) that you could need. The ability to get your gear taken in to the accommodation for you is also a fantastic service. The trails provide everything for beginners through to advanced as well as a range of options for how to explore these i.e.- snow shoes, cross country skiing etc. With the plans for a much grander base the experience will only get better. Highly recommended.

    Awesome place.
My husband and I went to snow farm in the morning and hiked around 7.2 kms. We hiked till meadow Hut and returned. The place was stunning, less crowded, fully covered with natural snow .it was absolutely worth it and it's a life time experience for us.

We stayed at Musterers Hut with 5 dads and 5 x 6 year old girls. Everyone had a blast and the facilities had everything you could ever need for a comfortable stay and to cook up a great feed!

We've done a couple of winter Snow Farm excursions, this was our first summer Snow Farm and it was great.
Easy to get to the hut on our bikes. One support vehicle to drive out all of our food and hut stuff.
Everything we need: water, cups, cutlery, plates etc, gas, cook top, bunk beds, mattresses.
Would highly recommend a visit to Snow Farm in the summer for hiking or biking.

We recently booked the Meadow Hut for our Xmas staff party, and the whole team loved the experience. It's tranquil, we loved getting off the grid, the cold stream nearby was full of fish, and the amenities at the hut are top-notch. You won't find a better hut! Looking forward to going back some day.

I really enjoyed my time at the Snow Farm. The service was great - we hired snowshoes but in the end didn't use them so I got a refund. The hut we stayed in was brand new - only a year old and was very warm and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. Signage on the paths was very clear so you couldn't really get lost. I would have loved an inside loo though I know that's possible.

It is a such a pleasure to find this friendly, well-organized and resourced cross country ski area in NZ.
The staff were all engaged and helpful. This contributes so much to the experience. The skiing layout allows for a wide range of abilities and preferences. After 50 years down hilling, this is now my go-to ski area.

Was in Snow Farm to train and race the Merino Muster Race ... Very friendly staff, good gears (all rented) and fantastic event with snow professionally groomed
Dirt road to access (14km) not easy to drive if rain/snow.
