Had a wonderful week here in Wanaka. The Lake is spectacular, same with the scenery and so many wonderful walks in the area. We really only touched the surface of the walks there are so many. The town itself is delightful, nicely laid out, nice shops and restaurants, plenty of variety. Just lovely and not commercialized.

A place with lots to do. Heaps of great walks and fun activities. We recommend at least 3+ days to really appreciate the beauty of the lakes and rivers that Wanaka has to offer.

Loved our stay. You have option to shop, eat, coffee, vineyards, fish, explore, swim or do some great bike rides and do much more. Like Wanaka over Queenstown but both have so much beauty and adventures for all ages and stages. Got to try an E-bike at Glendhu bike park. Awesome.

As small towns go it’s nice as it has decent cafes and a pretty lake along with skiing. It is not Queenstown and doesn’t profess to be. Don’t expect that same international flair or feel (or arguably the same depth of dramatic beauty). It is lovely nontheless and has its own beauty in a more low key way. To us it felt more like Taupo. Its a nice spot to visit as an example of a nice but simpler kiwi town (than a Queenstown) and it does have a good food and wine culture with some great cafes and wineries too so it certainly has appealing aspects. Worth a visit.
