On the main road between Wanaka and Cromwell this is where the warbirds over Wanaka is held every 2 years. Great museum and lots to see and explore with something for everyone in the family! Just 10 minutes out of Wanaka town this is worth the trip.

Decided to pay a visit due to the teaming rain. The displays while interesting where not as extensive as we had expected

I'd have to say disappointing. Great car collection. But poor aircraft one. Guess I'm a bit spoiled having been to many international aviation museums (USS Intrepid in NY and Air and Space Museum Washington ) but $50 for 3 adults for a 20 minute visit to see entire collection not great. One bonus was several Graham Sydney landscapes on display.

Hi Ian M, Sorry to hear you were disappointed on your recent visit. Our display of over 35 classic cars are possibly the best you'll see outside the USA. Sorry to hear you only spent 20 minutes with us as most guests who read all the information, watch videos and take in all the display spend a few hours in... More

Formerly the site of the New Zealand Fighter Pilot's Museum, with Sir Tim Wallace having sold off his aircraft collection, this gem of a place has taken over - and we are the better for it too, not that the aviation side of things has been neglected either. Clean, absorbing and charming, within the hall is a selection of aircraft... More

Hi Grant, thank for your review and so nice to hear your appreciation of Sir Tim. He certainly is a local legend to us and brought so much to the Wanaka community. We're proud to be able to keep Wanaka's aviation history alive. thanks again. More

We stopped here on our trip from Greymouth to Dunedin and found it to be a great museum. Dennis loves vintage cars and we found this museum had them very well presented and with lots to see. Could do with more but then we went to the Transport and Toy Museum which had lots, but they were not as well... More

museum. Some cool planes and cars, exhibits about NZ fighter pilots (the latter being one of the better parts. Small art gallery onsite as well. We both ordered breakfast at the 50s style diner attached to the museum. Scrambled eggs were super runny, much to my chagrin. Food was a bit pricey, and diner far too sunny today. Overall we... Hi, thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed the museum. Sorry to hear your eggs were runny, we would have happily re-made them for you had you asked as we pride ourselves on our quality food and want our guests to be happy. $12 for bacon and eggs is probably the best priced breakfast you'll get anywhere in Wanaka or... As the title said, this museum is stunning, the cars are all immaculate and very well looked after. Spoke to a man who had a few cars on display and he was very friendly and knowledgable. Staff were very welcoming and entry was very cheap at only $20 per person.

I was hoping for more as a warbirds museum. What was there was good, just not enough of it. Probably 65% of the place is dedicated to cars, which would be good if that is what floats your boat. Not so for me. Found the aero engine displays interesting and the histories of planes and pilots, and did like looking... More
