We needed a boat ride to/from Wanaka Faces Hut for a hunting trip. We went with Wanaka Water Taxi because they were the most confident regarding landing there in suboptimal weather conditions, and they were also the most reasonably priced option. When the weather proved unsuitable at the time we had initially booked, we were very impressed by their flexibility to find an alternative time that would suit us. Krystle also went above and beyond in a range of little things, including: helping us load/unload our gear; providing insightful commentary/answering our questions about the region; and making sure we were all comfortable (including our dog) aboard her boat.

Thanks Sam. Always great to have cool dog like Gus on board. (And you guys of course as well ;-) ) Thanks for your flexibility as well. Cheers Krystle

Thank you Charlie and Krystle for the perfect morning trip.
The 20 minute boat ride across the lake was a great way to start the morning. We arrived at our destination and had a short time to wander around the lake front and look at the crystal clear water and take photos of the less famous Wanaka Tree. We then started our 4x4 trip up Mount Burke, WOW, the scenery got better and better the higher we got. Charlie stopped at all the best vantage points for photo's, the beautiful weather was a great bonus.
Charlie told us about the history of the area, the plants and wild life and answered all our questions.
The picnic lunch was fabulous with the best local wine, cheeses and fruit, eaten whilst we all sat looking out over Lake Wanaka and the surrounding hills.
We would highly recommend the trip

We booked to do this tour on line and the experience was painless, then the day arrived and my wife and I felt like we were treated like royalty. The trip itself was amazing with incredible views of outstanding landscapes and lake vistas. The helicopter trip to finish off was awesome. Charlie our guide and driver of the 4WD was very knowledgeable in the history of the area and very capable behind the wheel of the vehicle, the picnic at the top of the hill was superb with delicious coffee, muffins and fresh fruit. A truly memorable experience that will stay with us forever.

It was an honor to be a part of your "bucket list" helping you guys be in the moment and don't think about anything else but the beauty of the area. We absolutely loved making this possible for you. Thank you so much Lindsay & Rayelene from both me (Krystle) and Charlie

Last minute decision to take the water taxi out to Muo Waho- great decision!! While it initially seemed a bit costly for just a water taxi to the island, the commentary by our ‘driver’ and the overall trip made it definitely worthwhile. Enjoyed our time on the water and the interaction with our driver, absolutely loved exploring this beautiful island at our own pace, and then finished with a very refreshing but fun swim in the water next to the boat. Turned out to be one of our favourite days!

Thank you very much for your review Kathryn and for joining us! Unfortunately the costs of running boats are huge that's why they always say; never get a boat just find a friend with a boat ;-) And of course we want the best skippers, since safety is very important. But we do try to add as much value to your trip, not just a quick drop off and pick up, and I am happy to hear that we managed to do that. It was great to have you aboard.

Such a great way to see more of Lake Wanaka! We took the Wanaka Water Taxi out to Mou Waho island... our guide was great, everything was easy and we loved seeing more of the lake than just the beach. My only wish was that we had more time (another hour?) on the island... more time to swim in the lake on an island in a lake would've hit the sweet spot on such a sunny day.

Thank you for the review & feedback Jill. We really appreciate it. It's always a bit of a juggle to see what people want, some won't more, some don't at all. We do try to add a bit of extra time when we can but that doesn't always fit in the schedule. But we will definitely take your feedback on board. Thank you for joining us!

As soon as I arrived at the shore of lake Wanaka I wanted to see beyond the horizon and go onto the lake to experience the beauty of the hills and mountains. This tour just did that and more than that we got to see and explore a beautiful island. It is perfect if you are not out for a thrill but just to see and feel the beauty of the landscape. The guide is super friendly and tells you all you want to know about the area.

And it’s right in our backyard. Contact Krystal and the team to find out more.
It was a fab. experience, Krystal gave us interesting local knowledge about the islands on Lake Wanaka. And expertly ferried us out for a great morning checking out local wildlife, puffing up the trail, and then we got to swim in the lake on Mau Waho island - don’t expect tropical temperature but real cool...(smiles around). Thank you Sue! As an open water swimmer myself I get extra excited when we have open water swimmers aboard! The lake on Mou Waho Island is just a magical spot for a swim. So happy that we could show you.

We caught the Wanaka Water Taxi out to Mou Waho island.
The trip out was awesome and we learned about the history of the area.
The island itself is fascinating and the walk up to the lake is a must do - and you have to swim of course!
If you swim out to one of the islands, you can say that you are on an island, in a lake, on an island, in a lake on and island. Not sure where else you can do that in NZ!!
Thoroughly recommend as a great way to see more of Lake Wanaka with great service!

Crystal was a great tour guide. Views as we travelled over the lake were stunning. I loved the information she shared with us. Mou Waho was just the most beautiful place. A walk up to the lake on the island, - So, I saw an island in a lake, on an island (Mou Waho) in a lake (Wanaka) on an island (South island) in a sea (Tasman Sea) and then a short walk up to the peak gave me 360 degree views. This was the best money I had spent on my holiday in Central Otago.
