Take a cruise across Lake Wanaka to the remote Mou Waho Island Nature Reserve and make a memorable, eco-friendly impact by planting a native tree before you leave. Opt to take a 1-hour-return guided bush walk to reveal Mou Waho’s hidden secret - another lake, nestled atop the island with panoramic views of Wanaka and the Southern Alps. Enjoy “high tea” surrounded by this spectacular alpine scenery.

If you do one tour in Wanaka, this is the one to do. A boat ride along the stunning lake takes you to Mou Waho Island which is a predator free island that is being turned back into native bush. A walk through the bush emerges at the top where there is another lake and more stunning views. We saw a couple of cheeky Weka who would steal your biscuits if you weren't watching. Craig our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about conservation which was a highlight of the tour. A great family outing too (we had 3 toddlers with us). I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

Thoroughly worthwhile trip, went with 2 kids and they loved it too. Met a few Weka, Weta and a gecko, our guide Craig was full of relevant info about the trip (history, geology, flora and fauna) and made the trip really enjoyable for us. The walk to the top of the island should be achievable for most fitness levels. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!

I have always wanted to visit this island and Chris has made the experience incredible. His love for NZ bird life, nature and the area is absolutely infectious. Planting a tree to give something back and leaving the island in a better place was such a nice experience. Chris' knowledge about the area, glaciers and everything Wanaka related is next level. I cannot wait to do more trips with them when I am back in Wanaka next time.

We chose to go on the afternoon Lake Cruise & Nature Walk tour. We were blessed with a still sunny day, which made for a fantastic cruise along the lake to the island. Our tour guide Andy, made the walk up to the top lookout very entertaining, with a good mixture of humour and information. The views across the lake on top of the island were truly amazing. The views further out across the Wanaka region were breath-taking. It was a fantastic afternoon, and something we'll remember through some great photos.
