What a treat to visit some of the area's top vineyards in the cheerful company of Joe Waide. Joe demonstrates and explains aspects of Maori tikanga (culture) to welcome his guests in order for us to feel connected to this land. The wine at Rippon, Maori Point and Wooing Tree was outstanding and the travel between them was fun and interesting as Joe has such detailed local knowledge to share. We would definitely do another tour with Joe, a highly knowledgeable and unique guide. Kia ora Joe. Tino Pai.

Ka pai e hoa. The wines do tell their own story and a wonderful story it is. My honour to take you on a Māori footprint journey in-between the vineyards. Mā te wā /Until next time Joe.

This is my second wine tour with the amazing Joe. Wanaka E bike was fantastic, with heaps of fun riding between vineyards on super powered bikes. Private tasting at Rippon was k enough.

Joe is such a gem. He's friendly and knowledgeable, and great fun on the tour. We had a great time with him, learned a lot and not to mention the delicious wine tastings! It's a great half day activity to do with a partner or some friends. We would recommend Wanahaka wine tour to anyone! Thanks Joe!

My parents and I went on this wine tour with Joe -- we visited three wineries (Rippon, Maude, and Maori Point). All three wineries were great! It was clear Joe knows good wine and has a good relationship with each of the vineyards. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine, the area, and the Maori history. It was our first experience learning more about the Maori and Joe was a great person to teach it. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone in the area! Communication during booking was excellent and quick. The pickup process was convenient and prompt as well.

Joe is an exceptional host and guide! He greets you from the start with a traditional Maori greeting (Whaikorero) and does a great job throughout the day of educating you on Maori history and traditions. It was just my friend and I, so we had Joe's full attention. Joe is a very safe and smooth driver, which is appreciated after tasting many wines by someone who is known to get motion sickness.

Joe booked three wineries for us to visit, which unfortunately I only remember the name of one (Maori Point...our favorite). Maori Point is a family run winery with beautiful grounds. We enjoyed all the wines - Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Rose, as well as their sparkling options under the "Gold Digger" label. For the other two, one was a very small family run boutique winery. We really enjoyed the Rose and Pinot Gris, but the tasting room leaves something to be desired (I enjoy the ambiance of the location as much as the wines themselves). The other was a larger winery with beautiful grounds where we had a nice cheese board and tasted many wines.

I also owe Joe a BIG thank you! I left my coat in the car and didn't realize it until he had pulled away. I knew Joe had to be in Queenstown for a wedding ceremony after dropping us off (note: our day was not at all rushed despite him having somewhere else to be later that night), so hated to have to call him to get my jacket back. But Joe didn't mind at all and dropped the jacket back at our hotel on his way back to Wanaka from Queenstown. It was great to see him again after his wedding ceremony as he was in full Maori dress with the face paint, etc. Thank you again Joe for going out of your way to get the jacket back to me!

Thanks Val and Kim for a wonderful review, so glad you enjoyed the beautiful vineyards and yes Māori point vineyard does hold a soft spot in my heart as well. My absolute pleasure dropping off the jacket and glad you got to see me with my ta moko on. Hope the rest of your trip was as good. Ngā mini nui/Thanks Joe

We had the opportunity to watch Joe perform the Maori Powhiri and hear his explanation of its meaning in August 2018. What a special experience. It was enchanting, informative, exciting, and powerful. A lovely, close-up introduction to Maori culture in a setting that was spectacular. If you want to learn about and experience a little bit of Maori culture while visiting this stunning part of New Zealand, I cannot recommend Joe highly enough!

Throughly enjoyed our wine tour. Our tour guide was personable and welcoming. Picked up from our hotel in a nice sized van. We enjoyed learning about the area, the Māori culture and tasting the wonderful wines at beautiful venues.

Our tour with Joe was spectacular! Very friendly and informative, Joe is a wonderful host who has a great rapport with the wineries. He is passionate about his Maori culture as well as the wines. We didn't feel like we were on a tour, but rather hanging out with an old friend. The wineries were great and we all had a blast! The wines that we bought were excellent and didn't make it out of Queenstown lol! Mahalo Joe, for a fantastic day! Aloha wau ia oe.... until we meet again. xoxo Elise, Kekoa, Dawn & Sean

We knew we were in for a great trip when Joe enthusiastically greeted us in full Maori dress the morning of our tour of Wanaka and its wineries. Nothing could match Joe’s descriptive history of the settlement of the South Island and tales of Maori culture. We thoroughly enjoyed each of the three wineries we visited. Joe made great choices! Thanks for a terrific day!
