Kia Ora and Welcome! WanaHaka is focused on giving YOU a true Māori experience to connect you with the Tangata Whenua (people of the land). Our Wine tours connect the beautiful wineries around the Wanaka and Cromwell regions with 3 tour options from a 2.5 hr 'Short 'n Sweet' option, to the Wero Wine tour-5 vineyards in 5 hours). We will connect you with the Māori history and people of the land so you get the COMPLETE experience. The Māori Powhiri/Welcome to Wanaka and Central Otago is performed at that wanaka tree/tree in the water, at weddings and for groups as a welcome to our region. We have been operating since 2008 and we would love to share our passion, Mana/Spirit and Māori history with you. At WanaHaka Tours we believe "Culture is Connection", to get just photos of the land is not the true experience of travelling, connecting with the people of the land provides the authentic, human connection. Together both will make sure you have truely connected with New Zealand.

We had a fantastic time with Joe! It was a two and a half hour wine tour which included insightful history on the Maori culture. The price was a steal to have both of these in one experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed conversing with Joe....More

Joe helped me to create a memory in my heart that no photo could have captured. Most memorable was learning the sacred Maori embrace of the Hongi. I stopped feeling like a tourist, and instead a person connected to the people and the land. The...More

Ka pai Kathy, Sharing the wonderful whenua/land and wines with you and your whanau/family was an absolute pleasure. Especially when the lovely dog at Desert Heart started to lick my face as i was performing the Wanaka Haka-priceless.

Expect the unexpected in Wanaka. A lovely cycle along the Millenium track and you can meet a local Māori following the footprint of his ancestors, was a pleasure to introduce you and Lisa to Māori culture.

It is so humbling and an honour to share the Tangata Whenua(people of the land), its historical significance in making New Zealand what it is and then drinking some (not me obviously) world class wines in Central Otago.
