Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great pathway to walk and we enjoyed an evening walk along this path. It was lovely and quiet, and easy even pathway. It is really easy to access from the main area, and the hotel we were staying at.

We stop in this village on the way to Mt Cook. It is a nice and quiet place. Love it. We basically followed the path which was quite well indicated except for one bit that they were improving. Saw some animals. We stared at them and they stared at us. I guess its fair.

Twizel Walkway, the Twizel River and the man made hill is surrounded in the Mackenzie Basin. It is a short circular walk.

Spare the horror and avoid this accommodation on book Twizel.
Smelly, dirty & unkempt - it’s such a mood spoiler ...
furniture soo rundown that u don’t even feel like sitting on the sofa, dead mosquitoes in refrigerator, expired stuff in pantry.... and cockroaches running around... the pics speak for themselves

WORST accommodation ever!

We arrived to collect hire bikes in preparation for our A2O journey and found this a great path to get acclimatised to the both the bikes and especially the electric versions for those of us using them.

We enjoyed cycling around Twizel with our kids. I needed a map to make sure we were on the right track but this was probably because we were unfamiliar with the area. You can pick up a town map from the visitors centre in the centre of Twizel. There is quite a bit of loose gravel in places on the track which made it a bit more challenging for the kids. Would be nice to all this track also.

We made a spur of the moment decision to pull the bikes off the back of the wagon and try and get around the town circuit of the Twizel Walkway. Bearing in mind I had our 3 year old on the rear toddlers seat and our 6 yearold son was on his bike.

The walkway is an awesome part of a town that I have never really given much thought of....until now.

The track or most of it is manageable for all levels of experience. It meanders around the town and you will get to see the Twizel river, parts of the town, golf course, pine plantations and the sprawling paddocks to the West of the town.

You'll encounter other like-minded people including those on bikes, runners, horse riders and those off for a stroll with the dogs.

The river offers a great opportunity for a dip during the warmer months or even throw the line in and try and catch a trout.

There is one large hill that needs caution when going down or up, especially when people are coming down on bikes as there isn't much room to let them through. With the rear seat on my bike, it was ok but I had to be very careful in not losing my own footing - great view too.

Awesome hour or so today and made us think about Twizel as a place to possibly settle in the future.

Loved the walk around walkway. Not very well marked out so take mobile for GPS. Good place for dogs to walk.

This walk along the river is a little gem and even managed a glimpse of Mount Cook whilst walking it - would definitely use it again.

This is a lovely walk that goes along the river then up through the trees, safe for the dogs and great tracks for the kids. Is slowly becoming more built up with houses which is a pity but still a nice place for a morning walk.
