On main road to Mt Cook. Surprised at how ‘temporary’ it was as it is a farm with two purple painted shipping containers. One sells creams, oils etc and the other sells drinks and ice cream. We enjoyed the ice cream though couldn’t really taste the lavender in the chocolate one but maybe better and stronger in the vanilla option. Expensive at $8 we thought. Wandered the farm which was free when we were there as presumably flowering season was nearly finished.

The lavender farm is a great place to stop and relax with wonderful flavours of ice cream to enjoy, there is the opportunity to walk or sit in the rows of fresh lavender growing at the farm, it’s truly a unique experience well worth your time to stop.

The farm is situated on the way to Mt. Cook. It was free of charge to visit but now you need to pay $5 per person. The $5 can be deducted if you buy anything from the sovereign shop.

Read the awesome story of behind the success of the business. Website said open daily from 9am to 5pm. Did a big detour to visit the shop and ice cream knowing that the lavender field bare. A Closed Sign at the gate welcomed us. Very disappointing. Operating hour should state clearly on the Website, tripadvisor site and Facebook.
