- Becky CLakewood, Colorado79 contributionsThis should not be missed! An unexpected pleasure! The buffet breakfast was hearty and delicious but the biggest surprise/treat was the amazingly wonderful depiction of Teddy Roosevelt; the talented actor WAS Teddy Roosevelt! He was eloquent, knowledgeable, funny and a total delight! He met with guests following the show and shared quite a bit of his time visiting with people individually. Would definitely recommend and hope to see the performance again on our next visit here!Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 June 2024
- Cheryl M102 contributionsLoved Brunch with President RooseveltWe thoroughly enjoyed Brunch with President Roosevelt! The breakfast buffet (cheesy eggs, hash brown casserole, meat, sweets) was VERY good. And the Thomas Roosevelt impersonator was outstanding! He knew so much and delivered history in such an interesting way.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 July 2024
- Kate Illinois1Illinois4,861 contributionsTheodore Roosevelt comes aliveWonderful review of Teddy's life and American history. The theater was only about a quarter full, so tickets may be available on day of show. We also saw Brunch with Theodore Roosevelt which was the same dialog of historical events but in this show he added about 5 minutes about his daughter Alice. No need to see both shows.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 August 2024
- CindyTampa, Florida7 contributionsRing of Fire is a fun evening full of music! We were lucky enough to catch Ring of Fire, The Music of Johnny Cash while visiting Medora. The evening was so enjoyable. The Old Town Hall Theater is flawlessly maintained, even just sitting in the theater was fantastic! The performers are very talented, we all loved watched them. My guess is that they always have something good going on there.Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 24 September 2024

This is a nice little theater where we went to see "Teddy Roosevelt". What an outstanding performance. You can easily become completely absorbed in this one man show and feel as if you went back in time, listening to TR himself tell you his life story. EXCELLENT AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! After the show, ask questions, Joe Wiegand, portraying TR, has phenomenally in-depth knowledge of his subject, and then there was the opportunity to meet with "TR" which was great fun too.

The restored town hall theater is nice. The magic show was quite enjoyable, with a lot of small magic, no big David Copperfield illusions. But, the absolute hit was the Teddy Roosevelt show. It felt like we spent an hour with the president. His set show is wonderful in itself, but the best part is when he freelances with the audience. He asks where everyone is from and has encyclopedic knowledge and relates a tale of when he, Theodore Roosevelt, was in each state and did something historic. A true delight for history buffs.

As Hal Holbrook used to bring Mark Twain to life, so too does Joe Wiegand does justice to the character Theodore Roosevelt. A superb performance to anyone that enjoys American presidential history. At some points during the show you actually feel that the "real" Teddy is in your midst. The character is so engaging with the audience and has knowledge of some facet of something from every person's hometown or state. You leave the performance with a more humanistic feeling toward the iconic character of Theodore Roosevelt.

We had two special experiences, the first being The Teddy Roosevelt Show with Mr Joe Weigand.
I book tickets ahead of time hoping to be able to catch the 3:30pm show but there was plenty of seating available for walk-ins too.
The performance was awesome. Mr Weigand does an amazing job as a TR reprisal actor and really brought the experience to life.
What amazed me about his performance was where he ask members of the audience what state they are from, then he would weave that into a fun fact about Theodore Roosevelt. I’m from California so I was delighted when he recounted the John Muir / Teddy Roosevelt Yosemite friendship. It dawned on me this man must have committed to memory factoids for all 50 states to connect with the audience. I took a picture with him after the show and he was just as warm and gracious in person as he was on stage. This was a highlight of my time in Medora.
Second Old Town Theater experience was later that evening. Only by sheer coincidence and good fortune did my family and I discover we were visiting Medora the weekend if the annual Badlands Chautauqua. That Saturday evening, there was a “Too Many Teddy’s” performance free to the community and visitors. It was a blast. The little Old Town Theater holds about 200 and the place looked packed. On stage were close to a dozen TR reprisal actors all taking turns doing a section recounting TR history. The audience loved it and was one of the highlights of our two week Dakotas vacation.

Without a doubt, the BEST one man show I have ever seen. Mr. Wiegand does a fantastic job. Not only does he look like Teddy, but, although I'm not old enough to have seen him in person, acts and sounds like I imagine Teddy Roosevelt to act and sound. His one hour performance is a marvelous and entertaining history lesson, but even better is his meet and greet outside after the show. He takes his time with each person and you really feel like you have known him for years, and he has known you for years, and likes you! If you are ever in the Medora, do not pass up his show at the Old Town Theater. Even if you do not like history, you will be wonderfully entertained, and will learn a few things.

Excellent magic show! We were amazed by all his card tricks and enjoyed quite a few laughs as well. We sat in the front row and were chosen to help with acts. A very talented magician! It was a highlight of our visit to Medora. We are from the east coast but will go again if we are ever in Medora.

We have seen this show in Las Vegas & by far, this performance was the best we have experienced. First of all the facility is wonderful, charming, clean & comfortable! The staff we encountered are kind & friendly which is so needed in today's world. Thank you! The level & quality of entertainment was unbelievable. High energy, professional and totally talented-- everyone gave it their 'all'! I will always remember this wonderful experience & all I can say is Bravo & Thank You!

Are the seats closest to the stage below stage level? Just wondering why they are cheaper than the ones one table back?

We attended different performances at 11am, 1 pm and 3 pm. Depends on the show
