A really very interesting site that gives you so much information on the seafaring trade of Salem. The history is so well done and so many artifacts to view.

Poorly kept with peeling paint and uninformative staff. Only really interesting point was that it was a workplace for Nathaniel Hawthorne. Upside is its free to check out if you would like a quick squiz.

Stopped in here not knowing what it was. Spoke to some park rangers who were very knowledgeable. Spent about 20 min looking at the exhibit. Certainly worth seeing,

We visited the house but unfortunately, the second floor was closed so we breezed through the tour. Although self-guided there was a park official there answering any questions you had.

Hawthorne worked as a surveyor for 3 years! This is THE Custom House he wrote about in the into to the Scarlet Letter! Beautiful building! So interesting!
