Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This review is quite late. I had the chance to experience the Garapan Street Market during one of my trips to Saipan. The best time to visit is in the late afternoon when all the stalls have opened. I find the stalls selling Filipino food more interesting; the desserts were really tempting.

Every Thursday evening. The only thing like it on Saipan, it's a nice change-over from beachside picnics, swimming or bike-riding. The market is crowded with people and features cheap (read: low-quality) albeit locally made jewelry, artwork and knick-knacks. It also seems like every Thai, Chamorro, Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurant on the island has a stand there full of noodles, veggies, and most importantly, glazed meat on a stick. Most of the stands offer a deal where you select your 5 (sometimes 6) favorite dishes from a bewildering array of trays and end up with a pile of food big enough to stuff two people silly for just 5 dollars. What a great way to have have a cheap meal and try a little bit of everything!

When my brother and I first reached Saipan, we were told to check out the street markets on Beach Road that are held every Thursday night from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.

The markets consisted of a variety of stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing, souvenirs as well as many BBQ stalls serving an assortment of meats. There was also live entertainment in the form of a dance group. The group consisted mainly of teen girls and a few boys who performed traditional dances. They did so enthusiastically and were amazing to watch.

A great chance to experience a local event and obtain some locally crafted souvenirs and cheap food.

This is the every Thursday night street market in the asian district and just about everyone within miles turns out for. Local arts and crafts but the big draw is the food. There are a couple of blocks of food vendors selling everything local and asian to eat that you can think of and most everything is $1 an item. For 4 or 5 bucks you can walk away full

Every Thursday and Tuesday nights is market night
Mix and mingle with a diverse eclectic group of Japanese, Korean and Chinese tourists., as this little island is a destination from people in these parts of the world.
Taste local cuisines, lots of great food plus find many souvenirs, apparel and enjoy the activity with a cool drink from one of the local places
Don’t miss the night market ....

Visited Garapan Street Market on a recent visit. The market is every Thursday night. The food choices were great and the prices were amazing. The best were the BBQ sticks for $1 each. There were a few interesting booths for shopping. The funny thing was there were no trash cans at all. I had to bring my trash back to the vendor I bought the food from. Some just left it on the tables.

Every Thursday night the street along the 'hotel row' in Garapan closes to traffic and becomes its own 'Taste of Saipan"
I can't begin to mention the names of the restaurants and hotels that set up booths to serve food - just know there are plenty.
Everyone from Saipan and tourists, too, flock to the Thursday night Market; the food prices are so cheap!
For US$5 you can stuf yourself with a 6 course dinner - everything from a whole deep fried fish to local Chamarro favorites.
Don't forget desserts, either, as there are plenty of sweets available, too.
It begins around 5PM and ends at 9PM.
There is always entertainment at the south end of the market.
All in all a great event for the family or even if you are travelling solo.

Everything is $1. Walked up and down and tried many foods. Very crowded with locals and tourists. Runs about from 5pm to 9 pm. Really cool. Was Christmas time and local kids doing shows in chammoro was cool. A must see.

It's glory days were when it was located in Paseo, Garapan. Now I usually describe it as "Sabalu Market on a Thursday." Still a great event to go to with friends to get cheap food of fusion cuisine etc. Also a great place to showcase some island culture and talents. Great place to pass time but gets hot.

Itching at this market. Food open and exposed and not protected. It didn't look appealing. Cheap though.
