The glacier is well worth the walk. The path has been set out in a beautiful manner that allows you to make the most of the scenery on the way up to the glacier. We were able to get about 750m away from the glacier;...More

The track is a little rough with some steep sections and a couple of stepping stones across water. You can get fabulous views of the glacier even if you only get to the first viewpoint

Loved our holiday in Franz Josef. Explored the walking trails (wish I was fitter to do more) seeing Pete’s pools.

Easy to access, the base of the mountain and the source of the river can be reached by short and accessible track. Although it's not possible to reach the ice itself, it's possible to see it and take nice pictures.

To hike to Fran Josef glacier is a great walk - I’m thinking it was a mile hike or so and no bridge to get to it!
