Fantastic walks for everyone.

Our whole family loved the Glacier. We did a few of the walks around there and each one was superb. Definitely worth a visit

It is a very easy and beautiful walk up to the glacier! We were a bit unlucky since we couldn't go on a helikopter tour, which probably is the best way to experience this area!! They couldn't fly in this bad weather!! But it was still great and nice!! But bring good clothing, raincoats and so on!! You will never... More

1,5 hrs return trail to the view point where you can see the glacier. They won't allow tou to get too close because of risks due to falling ice and rocks. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to see the glacier whole, but it was still awesome.

Our helicopter tour was cancelled due to weather (company was very professional about the whole process), so we went on our own to do the valley hike on a wet & chilly day. Make sure to pack a raincoat and appropriate pants (ie. NOT jeans). While you can see the main glacier (rapidly eroding back) at the very end.... towards... More

We walked up a trail to a viewing station to see the tip of the Franz Josef glacier and the spontaneous cascades that appear after a rain. From that distance, the glacier appeared less blue and mostly white, like the beard of Austria's Emperor Franz Josef. We have seen the dramatic works of the glaciers over the centuries all over... Easy to park and quietly walk about 20 mins past stunning waterfall , amazing moss covered rocks and revealing a view of the glacier that was fantastic. It has receded dramatically over the years but still WORTH THE WALK even if rainy

Cloudy, no mountain to see. Glacier just a pile of snow on the valley after a long walk. No nice spectacular drive at all for us along the west coast from haast till Westport I don't understand the rave.

The glacier was stunning and we got much closer to it than we expected. The walk itself was beautiful and I would recommend going there early before the crowds. We would definitely go back!

No need for a tour for this one. Just make sure you pack a rain jacket and good trainers👍🏽 Waterfalls and views were insane and you could get pretty close to the glacier. Photo ops are great. Check the weather as it can make all the difference. Just be aware it's a 4km journey from the roadside to the START... More
