Hi SummerLightening, You are correct in that the two glaciers are similar. Flight 2 Fox Glacier and Mt Cook is exactly as the name describes and includes a snow landing of 8 to 10 minutes at the top of the Fox Glacier. When conditions allow for this flight it certainly is spectacular. Flight 3 the Twin Glacier takes you over both the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, the noticeable difference is the flight across the mountains between these two West Coast Glaciers. When flying between the two you will still have views of Mount Cook and Mount Tasman along with the snow landing (8 to 10 minutes) but you will also see a lot of the other peaks of the Southern Alps which are also just as spectacular. My recommendation would be the Mount Cook and Fox Glacier option if you will be stopping at Fox Glacier township or have time to drive to our Fox base from Franz Josef (this option only departs from our Fox Glacier base). If the weather is unsuitable for Mount Cook we will be able to let you know before departure and you can opt for the Twin Glacier if that is available or you will be able to try and rebook the Fox and Mount Cook for a later time ( if we are not fully booked later in the day) Another tip, as a general rule the morning weather is often the best on any given day between 8.30AM and 11.30AM. Often the afternoons become cloudy and in some cases afternoon flights are cancelled due to too much cloud cover. February is a very busy time and a reservation two or three days in advance will help ensure a morning spot is available. Hi, we do not currently work with Viator so I could not be certain. It should be standard practice to refund if a flight is cancelled due to weather. You can book direct with us via our website and you do not have to pay in advance, we only charge you at the check in time 20 minutes prior to departure IF the weather is suitable and the flight will be definitely going ahead. Should the weather be any different at check in time we will tell you and if there is a shorter option available you can choose if you would like to take the option or rebook for a later time. I think it would be a great experience for them. You don´t have to walk far at all and I am sure if you contact them beforehand, they will do everything to help as they are a very accomodating company. A bus takes you to and from the helicopter. As long as they can climb up into the helicopter, it should be an amazing adventure as it was for me.

From memory the 20 minute flight was around NZ$280. Book in advance but pay on the day as the weather needs to be good to go up.

The advertised price on their website when we went at the end of September this year was $NZ199 per adult but when I asked for a quote (there is a "ask for a quote" button on the website) I got it for a significant discount for three adults and one child.
