We love all walks, some better than others but all NZ walks are good.

This was not quite on the scale of the reflections in Lake Matheson, Peter's Pool was relatively calm on the day so the reflection was quite amazing. Not the same backdrop as the magnificent Mt Tasman or Mt Cook at Lake Matheson, but still it's just a short walk from the carpark at Franz Josef and these days the walks at Franz are not long at all.

We drove to the car park at the end of the Glacier Access Road and then followed the easy footpath for a few hundred metres to a lovely pool. It is a beautiful spot with the glacier and the mountains in the background. On a sunny day this is a beautiful place.

A nice easy walk of about 30 minutes return - from the main car park for the Franz Josef viewing point.

Arriving at the destination means you get rewarding views of the glacier, the mountains and the bush, across the pool and wetlands. Of course the views depend on the weather.

There is plenty of space for tourists as well as a couple of benches for those who want to relax.

There are information displayed on the status of the glacier - more importantly- how much it is receding from us over the years.

It doesn’t take that long to walk up to there and it’s a nice easy walk. There is some Forrest scenery leading to it, and compared to the other walks it was less busy. Takes about 10min to walk up to it if you stop a bit to take photos.

We combined this very short walk to a reflective pool with three other walks to make a 10km walk. It's very well maintained and suitable for all.

A short walk to the prettiest reflection I’ve ever seen in water. A must do when visiting Franz-Joseph.

Easy stroll to the reflective pool which was cool. The information board there about the glacier's history and the formation of the pool was actually better than at the glacier.
We cam across a few people walking towards it with togs - it's not that sort of pool!
