About
This fully-accessible walk winds through the rainforest to a small kettle lake, which was formed by ice melting amongst glacial moraine about 200 years ago. Enjoy the reflective views of the glacier and mountainpeaks in this tranquil setting. Getting there Drive or walk south from the Franz Josef Waiau township across the Waiho River bridge and turn left onto the Glacier Access Road or Te Ara a Waiau. Drive or walk for approximately 4 km to the car park at the end of the road.

Easy, flat, 5 minute walk to an impressive sight, especially on a clear day! Was definitely worth the wee wander in!

This is a short walk from the car park and has beautiful reflections. Well worth the stroll to see it.

Easy stroll to the reflective pool which was cool. The information board there about the glacier's history and the formation of the pool was actually better than at the glacier.
We cam across a few people walking towards it with togs - it's not that sort of pool!

Easy to bet to, with interesting informationa out how it was created, with great photos showing how far the glacier has retreated, unfortunately

We were lucky enough to visit with no wind and the reflections on the pool where lovely.
The walk in is short and easy and the information board at the pool is great with excellent explanation of kettle pools how these are formed.
You can continue to walk as well if you feel like a bit of additional exercise

A quiet easy amble through west coast bush in light rain to a small pond; with good explanation/story boards. A must do.

Beautiful scenery. Easy access and very well built DOC tracks. We had stunning weather and the beauty was too hard to capture with a camera.

This track starts from the Franz Josef glacier carpark and leads to a beautiful small pool which reflects the surrounding mountains. Highly recommend checking it out when you are in the area.

We would have missed this walk if a couple who just walked it didn't tell us to do it. Its a short and easy walk ending at a beautiful pool which reflects its surroundings.

A beautiful pond with stunning reflections. Only a sport walk from the start of the walk up to view the glacier. Probably more impressive than the glacier at the moment.
