We have tried to do the Heli-hike a few times in the past and were thrilled to finally be able to do it. It’s an expensive activity but how often do you get to walk on a glacier, especially one that’s disappearing too quickly? All...More

My friend and I were on a trip last week and were really disappointed. Half of the time was spent in the visitor center and waiting to get a helicopter. The helicopter does not fly over the glacier, so it is possible to see how...More

I baulked at first at the cost of the ticket for the helihike... NZD$450! But consider that the glaciers are not only rare, but they are disappearing!! 20 years ago Fox Glacier was about 20km long and now it's only 5km. So get in while...More

Their pictures don't lie. This was totally fun and an amazing experience. Everything needed was supplied, even waterproof outer layers. Friendly and informative staff and guide. Really like the town of Fox where this heli hike is located. Franz Josef is very busy.

We were booked on a 9.00am flight and luckily the sky was clear - they have a few no go days due to cloud. The boots , crampons and wet weather gear is good quality and the instruction and guides are good. We had a...More

We were booked on the 7.50am heli hike and were fortunate our trip went ahead, as locals had told us the chances of going up is 50/50 as the weather changes quickly on the West Coast, and both glaciers in the area had hardly anyone...More
