Whether you are walking, heli-hiking or ice-climbing with us in this incredible environment, we can promise you a memory you'll cherish.

We have a long guiding history on the glacier (guided walks first started in 1928). Those years of accumulated knowledge and experience mean weare able to guide you with complete confidence.

You can rest assured we take your safety and comfort very seriously.

Come and enjoy our friendly West Coast hospitality, experience the mighty Fox Glacier with us and create a lifetime memory. We have glacier trips suitable for most fitness levels and ages including children from 9 yrs. Our informative Glacier Terminal Face walk is suitable for children from 5 yrs or for those who would find the walks onto the glacier too strenuous.

There are two glaciers in Franz Josef. One of these is the Fox glacier. Both of them are unique since they grow in this part of NZ which is actually a rainforest. We arrived in the evening at about 4 pm and started the trek to the glacier. It's a good 40 min walk and very easy to do except... More

We did the heli hike first thing in the morning, as tends to cloud over in the afternoon. Professional in every sense and although 30 of us were booked on .. the way they got us up yo the Glacier in groups was effective and efficient. Our guide was good and allowed plenty of time for photos. Great experience

We were so incredibly lucky to go on a perfect sunny day! Our guide was amazing and the glacier had so many little pockets to look through and shimmy down. The helicopter ride there was great too.

The tour met at the Fox Glacier Guiding building beside the Hobnail café in town. We were outfitted by a well-organized and trained crew. It was rainy the day we went and they supplied us with hiking boots, socks, backpack, hiking poles and full weather rain pants and hooded coat. The quality of garments was very good and I would... We did the half day heli hike, it was absolutely amazing. The guide was really informative and the helicopter ride was spectacular. Landing on ice is definitely a unique holiday experience. Make sure to bring a sunscreen, and dress appropriately. We went in the beginning of summer and while it starts of cool at the top, you'll warm up very... More

The trip is extremely weather dependent and we were so close to being cancelled but at the very last minute got a small window for the helicopter to get through. It's so hard to put in words but if you can manage this, you will not regret it as it is once in a lifetime and the glacier may not... More

We did the Flying Fox Helihike and I must say it's absolutely amazing! Upon checking in, they provide a coat and a bag to put your items if needed. Then, you hop onto a bus to the helipad. There, you are given socks and boots to put on, all provided for. The helicopter ride is a short 4-5min ride to... More

The guides were very experienced and kept an eye on safety all the time, while not compromising on fun. We got to climb up the magnificent Fox Glacier, drink fresh and delicious glacier water straight from the trickling streams, go inside ice caves, and slide through ice tunnels! I have an old injury on my knee but I managed to... More

Amazing experience! Spent the day on the Glacier, as clouds rolled in and our flight home was delayed. Ross was the coolest Scottish guide, he had fantastic banter and knowledge regarding the Glacier and the history behind it. Thanks for giving the two travelling JAFA girls a sick day to remember!

We did the 4 hour Flying Fox Heli/Hike. The whole experience lasted 4 hours, but 2 and 1/2 of those hours were spent on the Glacier. The trip included waterproof boots, warm socks, waterproof jackets. We spent almost an hour sorting out the 4 groups of 5-6 people with clothing, registration, security etc. Tip, wear layers of clothing as it... More
