Katie (worker and not the owner) from London, gave us a ride (no charge) near the front door of the office at the Aspen Hotel to the horse stable and back home. We were with G-Adventures tour, so maybe that is why they provided a ride for 2 of us. Beware...they only give 1 &1/2 hr. of riding time, and count the car ride as part of the time and when they collect the money (cash or charge) and the time to get on the horse and feed the horse a carrot. Helmets were really dirty and gross. Bring a shower cap to wear if going. I believe that the 2 hrs. should be 2 hrs. of riding time, but the owner disagreed via email, and refused to refund the $20 difference for the 1/2 hr. back. If you are going to Queenstown, I would recommend a horse ranch there as the Hobbit movie was filmed there and it is suppose to be more scenic, but a bit more costly too. Up to you, but beware of the time. There were 5 of us, and only 2 of us got a ride back to the hotel, yet the other 3 (teenagers from another family) were also given a short ride of 1 1/2 hrs. That is 5 of us, at 1/2 hr. short comes out to $100 USD difference or gain on their part. I don't like businesses that take short cuts and skimp to gain money. The ride is not thrilling either. Really simple ride that I would not recommend.
