I have heard so much about the horse tracking in Fox Glacier and although I am not the biggest horse fan I was keen to give it a go! From the moment I drove in I was sold with the well set up yard, very docile horses and how welcoming Chloe and Ang were. They kindly answered all my questions as they prepared the horses for the ride and then we were off! The trek was amazing, cruising along bush tracks, then out into the open by the incredible Cook River and right behind us were the stunning snow capped mountains, amazing scenery!! My horse was perfect, not a thing went wrong and I felt very safe and comfortable. I would highly recommend this trek to others who are keen to do something a little different and the team at Experience Fox Glacier are wonderful to work with! Thank you again!!! …

It was our first time riding horses and we had really friendly ones (Willy and Ace), it was a lovely introduction, we loved it! Although it was a cloudy day we still enjoyed the landscape, was nice riding on grass and in the riverbed. Our guide, Angela was very nice and had lots of information for us about the horses and about activities around the South Island. We would recommend the experience! …

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of your experience with us. It's great to hear that you loved your first horse riding experience and that it was with us! We are very lucky that the west coast is still beautiful even when the clouds are present, glad to hear that you didn't let this put a damper on your time. We will make sure that Angela sees your lovely comments. We hope that you enjoy the rest of your travels around the South Island.

We decided to do something different and went for an hour long horse riding trek through the rainforest. Hannah was our guude and we had no horse experience but it was a fun ride. The whole trek was walking pace and nothing scary!

We enjoyed to have a short trek (1h) through the fields and the rainforest. The staff is very friendly and also the horses are used to go with rookies like us.

I spent a wonderful 2 hours in the company of my guide, Hannah, riding their ex- pacer, 'B'. The scenery was stunning - one minute riding alongside a river fed from the glacier, the next meandering through lush green rainforest. Then when the countryside opened up to green paddocks, we even saw a deer in the distance. I felt really safe on my horse and was super comfy in a Western saddle which I'd never actually ridden in before! All the horses looked really happy and well looked after. A great way to spend a lovely relaxing couple of hours when in Franz Josef.…
