About
The ancient sheep breed defined by its wrinkly characteristics is known as the Merino. Rams are the males. With super fine wool the Merino can survive the freezing winters. It is this special fibre that brings resources to the small communities. The Wrinkly Rams pays homage to this breed, the culture and the 2500-year relationship between man and sheep. Learn more about the Merino-its life, culture and why its wool is desired in our Merino sheep shearing show. Contact us today!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place to stop and shop. Also a great place to eat with some friendly sheep out back. We had beef pie, chicken pie, hot dogs, and BLAT. All were excellent with very friendly service.

The name caught our attention. We were staying down the road and strolled up for some lunch, very good menu, friendly staff and food nice and hot. They also have a large gift shop which has to be visited….and purchases made! Great views of the mountains and although on a main road it was not too busy.

We stopped at the Wrinkly rams for a break on the drive to Tekapo from Queenstown. It was a good spot for something to eat. We had the veggie soup which came with some garlic bread and a sausage roll. Both were tasty. Service was quick and good.

Came in with some of our motorbike club on Friday for lunch.

Fantastic cabinet goodies for a quick lunch. Service was fast and efficient even though they had alot of customers at once.

Facilities were fab.
The toilets were very clean.

Looking forward to coming back again

Yummy hot food (and lots of it) - for example, the salmon scrambled eggs comes with big chunks of salmon and the salmon eggs benny comes with whole slices of salmon on the side (if you like salmon - you'll love this place). From what we could see - all the servings were like this!

Also big cups of superbly made coffee, plenty of space and tables, lovely friendly staff. The fire looks like its under repair - but still nice and warm inside. There's also an attached shop with wool gear/ fashion (don't ask me what's the difference, but its there). Plenty of parking in the car park - even for campervans or if you're towing a trailer.

We didn't stop to eat but that's not because they didn't entice us with some treats that whet our appetite. The takeout coffee was great, the gift shop offered many items in all price ranges for gifts to take back to Canada. Which we bought. Unfortunately, we missed the last sheep shearing demonstration before the holiday break. Most certainly make this place a stop, and judging from other reviews, a place to grab a bite.

Best coffee I've had for a long time. We came for breakfast - egg benedict with ( local) smoked salmon was good and was on the table less than 10 min. after ordering.
Our go-to place when we pass through Omarama from now on!
