About
The ancient sheep breed defined by its wrinkly characteristics is known as the Merino. Rams are the males. With super fine wool the Merino can survive the freezing winters. It is this special fibre that brings resources to the small communities. The Wrinkly Rams pays homage to this breed, the culture and the 2500-year relationship between man and sheep. Learn more about the Merino-its life, culture and why its wool is desired in our Merino sheep shearing show. Contact us today!

Came in with some of our motorbike club on Friday for lunch.
Fantastic cabinet goodies for a quick lunch. Service was fast and efficient even though they had alot of customers at once.
Facilities were fab.
The toilets were very clean.
Looking forward to coming back again

We didn't stop to eat but that's not because they didn't entice us with some treats that whet our appetite. The takeout coffee was great, the gift shop offered many items in all price ranges for gifts to take back to Canada. Which we bought. Unfortunately, we missed the last sheep shearing demonstration before the holiday break. Most certainly make this place a stop, and judging from other reviews, a place to grab a bite.

Avoid this place if you're a foreigner or tourist. The receptionist is incredibly rude and blatantly racist. While I was ordering, she rolled her eyes and acted like taking my order was a massive inconvenience. I should have walked out, but with two hungry kids and being new to the area, we decided to stay.
Things got worse while we were eating. She approached our table to complain that our kids had made a mess on the high chairs and insisted we clean it up. When my wife explained we needed to get wipes from the car, she gave us a condescending look, as if we were completely incompetent.
I've never experienced staff yelling at children in a restaurant before. As tourists from India, we were treated like an unwanted burden. Absolutely unacceptable behavior.
This red headed Karen need to find any job other then custoner service.

I was in Omarama for work and this place was recommended to us by friends as a great place for breakfast. The food was really good, coffee excellent and the staff very friendly and chatty. Our meals came out quickly so we could linger over a second delicious coffee. A great find and highly recommended!

Eating here is always a good thing to do. I had the eggs for breakfast poached perfectly. Served promptly even though it was a busy holiday weekend morning. The staff are keen and friendly. The menu is appealing as are the cabinet selections. I would also highly recommend the home made pies and the coffee.

The Wrinkly Rams is an interesting stop to make in Omarama. There is a large cafe, shop specialising in clothing items made from locally sourced Merino sheep wool as well as a handful of Merino sheep wandering around in back of the shop. Opening hours are 6.30am to 4pm daily.
We stopped here during our recent drive along State Highway 8 in route to Wanaka and ended up purchasing a Merino sweater and beanie that were put to very good use during the rest of our trip to South Island. So far, would very much recommend shopping here based on the quality of these two purchases to date.

We stopped in at Omarama to see the Wrinkly Rams show. We thoroughly enjoyed it. James was the farmer doing the presentation. He was very informative, funny and approachable. The shearing show is in a theatre area at the back of the shop. First James introduced the types of sheep and specifically the merino sheep which is farmed in the area.
There is a short video showing how the wool goes from sheep to clothing. James then talks through all of the sheep products and how to farm and shear the sheep. We were given the opportunity to pat the sheep and get photos prior to shearing. The sheep was then sheared with the electric and manual shears. Our kids received a cute little sheep toy and then we were taken outside to meet some more sheep and feed them as well as to watch the sheepdog round up some sheep.
The shop inside is packed full of beautiful wool products and there’s a huge country style bar and cafe that is cost, warm and a great place to hang out and have meal. We loved our stop at the Wrinkly Rams!

Looked on website. Their Sunday hours are 7.30am to 4pm. You can google closer to the time or ring the phone number on their website for Easter Sunday holiday hours.I went there on holiday passing through and live over 500 miles away from them in the North Island of NZ but very family friendly. We had a baby in our group and they were very accomodating
