- chitzaBrussels, Belgium236 contributionsRelaxing experienceI loved the time spent at Omarama hot tubs, when we were driving from Wanaka to Twizel. I made the booking online (easy) about two weeks ago, when I saw slots were filling up. Checking in process was smooth and the whole site spotless clean. We enjoyed just sitting in the tub and looking at the pond and mountains. Came out very relaxed. Very easy to add cold water when it’s getting too hot.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 December 2022
- tibou73North Narrabeen, Australia82 contributionsAmazing experienceHad an amazing time at the Omarama hot tubs . The location is spectacular, service top tier . We had a booking at 5 to 630pm, was a perfect way to soothe muscles after a few long days of bike riding . Would 100% recommend a visitVisited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 December 2022
- RebeccaMatakana, New Zealand20 contributionsBest way to end the day! These hot tubs are definitely a highlight on our holiday, just lovely to sit in after a day of exploring everything the area offers. 90 minutes is plenty of time to relax and unwind with a glass of wine! Pizza afterwards was also yummy, if I could give this place more stars I definitely wouldVisited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 March 2023
- Mumma&CoTimaru, New Zealand6,072 contributionsSo hotMuch prefer them in winter. Beautiful, relaxing spot but we were sitting in a hot tub in the hot sunshine & it was just too much. Had the cold tap running most of the time & even got out to take cold showers. Could see into tub next door if we stood up!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 November 2023
- Haka999Noosa Heads, Australia6 contributionsLong, hot and relaxingAfter getting a tip off from a local instead of the very popular and difficult to get Queenstown Onsen we decided to have a go at he Omarama wood fired hot tubs on the way back from Mount Cook. Host was very nice and we were looked after. Tub was very warm and we needed to add a fair bit of cold water to make it comfortable for us but as per the policy add as much as you like or heat it up more if that’s your go. Our tub looked out over a nice pond with bird life on it and the smell of woodsmoke kinda adds to the experience. For us 90 minutes was more than enough and we have never felt so completely relaxed, with all the squeaks and aches of trekking gone. Would highly recommend this experience. The one star reviews are worth reading for their comedy value.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 November 2023

Made the stop at Omarama especially to have a soak at the end of a long drive up from Lake Te Anau in Nov 2023.
Arrived at about 4:30 to be told that nothing was available and that they ad been trying to call the 18:00 bookings to see if they could come in at 17:00 instead.
Obviously, going home early is more important than the customers they potential have.
this was the only Hot Tub Spa experience that we found that didn't offer an evening booking.
The woman on the reception was very matter of fact, curt and on the verge of being rude to be honest.
At least the Top 10 holiday park got a booking for the night. For us it was a wasted stop really.

Don’t be the last session. The staff won’t give you time to shower. He rushed us out. So if you want to enjoy the full amount you pay for. Don’t book the last spot. Not worth the money.

This looks like an amazing experience based on all of the promotional material and once you get there, the place is tidy and clean. The hot tubs are great and it is a good idea to test the water with your hand before getting in, as our tub was initially quite hot.
The big downer is that we were expecting, and we paid for a tub with a view. The only view that we had while sitting in the tub, was one of the little rock garden surrounding the tub. We expected so much more and for the price that you pay, it is not worth sitting in a spa that feels like it is in someone's back yard.
If you go, perhaps ask to see your tub and surrounding space before you commit, to make sure you have any sort of view.

Landed in Nz, We had a long drive to get to Twizel, although we couldnt book online we tried to see what this famous hot tub in Omarama was all about. Got there and hoping they still have availability only to find this old lady who's literally not friendly at all to tell us fully booked with a smug on her face. Couldnt even allow us to use their toilet as its strictly customers only. Walked out quiet disappointed with their "hospitability" forgotten.

Hi do you have a minimum age restriction on booking the hot tubs?
If tow 17 year olds were to book would they be allowed to book?
David A
Brisbane, Australia1 contribution
Not sure, but I would think two 17 year olds should be mature enough. This is a question for the Hot Tubs people themselves.
Hi there, my partner and I are hoping to come through on the 3rd Jan, however there is a possibility that this may change to the 4th. If we book now, what is your policy on changes/cancellations please?

Do I need to book? We're coming Wednesday early evening?
Hi Mike, yes I do recommend booking as we sell out pretty quickly.
We look forward to seeing you soon

We're thinking of going to Omarama for a day trip from Queenstown in early January (as in Jan 2). Apart from the glider plane, we were thinking of doing the hot tub ---is this a good idea to do in the summer? I kept reading how the experience is enhanced at night while star-gazing. If I were going in the summer, I can imagine the stars don't come out til 9pm.......what to do in Omarama til then? Or should I just do this in the afternoon and drive back to Queenstown in the evening?

Omarama
Hello if you wanted to stargaze in January you are looking at 9.30 before the sky is dark enough for stars. Our last bookings are at 8.30 so if you are going to stay the night in Omarama you will need to book well in advance for that time of the year. We have the Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail and bike hire the scenery around here is beautiful High Counrty New Zealand and there are evening dining options.
You could also drive to Mount Cook (1hour away)
