NZ Diving was very understanding of my work and Rec time commitments.
The online learning of the course made for flexible study while out of the country.
The course was run out of there Bay of Islands facility this was the perfect staging ground to learn and perfect all the required skills of the course as we used the Heli Deck of the Ex HMNZS Canterbury as a base for skills. the wreck sits in 37 meters of water so it is perfect for this course.
My rental gear was made available to pick up from Warkworth on my way up to Bay of Island
My instructor Phil is a very knowledgeable instructor who unlike other teachers in the field education actually gets his students and tailors his teaching around his individual student.
So much so I would happily employ his talents to teach my most beloved friends and family if they were to take up or continue their diving as he can teach a whole suite of courses from multiple agencies.
On the course I learnt staged decompression, twinset skills, O2 management in nitrox, dive planning, redundancy, dealing with tasks under stress calmly though the most importantly skill I learnt was working as a team to complete to objective.
The ability the train on the wreck was a great bonus the use of the boat made the task very enjoyable.
Thank you Phil & NZ Diving Looking forward to working together on the next step of my overall objective.

Had a fantastic experience diving with the NZ diving team. Neil (owner of the company) was very approachable and proactive with arranging our diving sessions as well as making alternative dive suggestions during times of poor weather. Isja, our dive instructor was highly experienced, supportive and knowledgable making our training sessions very enjoyable. We completed our open water and advanced SSI diving across a range of dive sites with NZdiving and would highly recommend them for anyone ranging from beginner to advanced. We plan to continue diving with the team in the near future

I did a Scuba Skills Update Course with Neil on Friday. It had been two years since my last dive and I was rusty and nervous to say the least! Neil quickly put me at ease - he is patient, professional and knowledgeable, with a great sense of humour - lots of great tips. Neil is a credit to SSI, and I feel confident again, and have now booked my Advanced Course and a Hammerhead Experience for next summer!
Thank you Neil.
Thank you Neil.

Had the most amazing time diving the Poor Knights with the New Zealand Diving team. Good communication, equipment, briefing, guide and excellent dive sites. Will definitely come back for more dives this year and already signed up for a Hammerhead charter next year!

Bucket list trip to the Poor Knights. Was magic, with Neil & Makayla who were great hosts. Thanks Neil for the well organised trip and to Makayla as our dive guide. Loved the Mau Mau cave along with the rays and XXL snapper. We really appreciated the dive going ahead for just the two of us even though other people who had booked pulled out at the last minute. An Awesome Adventure.

My partner and I were reasonably new to scuba diving; having received our Open Water Diver certification a few months ago, we were a bit apprehensive at first, and this information was passed on to the company at the time of booking (a month and a half before scheduled trip). We were slightly disappointed at the lack of structure and professionalism shown by the company and staff. Our first dive guide was very helpful and friendly, and the other one (also the skipper) not so much. We had a bit of trouble with the gear to start off with, particularly with the weighting. It was suggested by the skipper that perhaps we should just give up because "other people have paid for dives too", and normally this is a fair enough comment, however as we were the only people who paid extra for a dive guide and other people seemed quite comfortable with the equipment, I found this unacceptable. I suggest that if the company finds it troublesome to take amateur divers, then perhaps this can be mentioned at the time of booking. Once we got the hang of it, our second dive was much better so overall we still had a great day.

I booked a trip in good faith, but unfortunately I couldn't make the dates and as the alternative dates weren't appropriate I was told by Dive NZ (when they actually responded to emails) to go to the third party I bought the voucher through for a refund which simply meant that the third party contacted Dive NZ requesting the refund which was denied, so not only did Dive NZ waste my time trying to get the third party to request them for a refund which they were always going to turn down, they also gave inaccurate information and then had the cheek to tell me that the information I took off their website was wrong due to me not deleting my cookies though this was not the issue as the issue was Dive NZ being creative with the truth to the third party.
In short if using Dive NZ do not prepay as once they have your money the customer service is poor or non existent ie don't expect replies or quick replies to emails or accurate information.

The story told here is actually completely inaccurate.
As explained to this gentlemen he booked his trip via a third party company, NOT NZ Diving, therefore we DO NOT hold his funds in this case the third party did. If he needed a refund then he needs to get confirmation from them. It is ultimately down to them to refund you.
As far as dates go our terms and conditions clearly state we will offer you alternative dates. With regards to vouchers expiring we often honor dates past the expiry period.
Our staff at the time were assisting you to see dates on our calendar that you couldn't see, they WERE trying to help you. They are not IT experts so blaming them is really not on,these problems are all due to your short comings!
Again your comments at the end of your rant about prepaying are inaccurate. You clearly do not understand how bookings work when using third party companies, we DO NOT hold the funds as you DID NOT pay us direct. Therefore I would suggest you get your facts right before trying to criticize someone.

I was initially attracted to NZ Diving, based in Warkworth NZ, as they ran a promotional price for Horn Rock to see the hammerhead shark migration. Unfortunately because of weather and rescheduled times I was not able to make this dive, and they were excellent in working to find an alternative. Since the first dive with them I have done three trips and six dives with them. NZ Diving have their own 30ft semi-rigid inflatable, midnight diver, which they launch near the dive sites. This allows them to have a very low cost structure compared to some other operators, such as Poor Knights companies with large expensive cats. You accept that a trip out 45 mins is not going to be as comfortable, but the trip can be fun if a little challenging in rougher seas, and is fast and fun in good weather. The quality of equipment is excellent - new 7mm wetsuits, gloves available, good quality new regs and BCDs. Fins look OK but I take my own.
As with any diver operator, they have a large staff so I have met and gone out with around 7 people from NZD and enjoyed talking with all of them. Neil is excellent, and kindly sent me a picture of myself entering the bridge of the Waikato frigate taken with his professional kit. In my trips I have found the staff professional, even forbidding a second dive to someone who had broken their ascent rate (this type of thing and not doing safety stops I have seen many other operators turn a blind eye to. I won't dive a second time with people like that.)
I am an advanced PADI diver with around 75 dives. NZ Diving is excellent value, dive great locations and have good hire kit. I will dive the Canterbury and other locations with them this year if I get a chance.

Traveled to Aotearoa-New Zealand for the PRIDoC conference but went early to dive with New Zealand Divers out of Warkworth, and to visit friends in Ohakune. No matter where I dive, I have no expectations and keep the plan simple: just go get wet! I'm always wonderfully surprised, as I was this trip. First dive- saw seaweed ( I love Limu), haven't seen this type of seaweed since I left California in the 80's. Beautiful. large colorful nudibranchs, limited albeit inquisitive fish. 2nd dive: a pod of dolphins joined us and stayed for the duration of our visit. Amazing! We get dolphin and shark encounters in Hawai'i often, but they usually don't hang around! Neil and Will remained vigilant insuring our safety while maintaining awesome senses of humor and wit. Mahalo NUI for this day!

The other day a group of us headed out, with Neil, to Little Barrier Island. We had an absolutely fantastic day of diving! We were extremely fortunate to be joined by a small pod of common dolphins babysitting a young one. I had the feeling it would be a memorable day, and it sure was! We also saw a number of long tailed stingrays resting on the sandy bottom. It was a day I'll never forget. Thanks to everyone!
