- Lauren K6 contributionsCute little shop with an amazing collection of Art and Pottery workBeautiful little shop located in Warkworth. You will be able to see lots of beautiful art work and amazing pottery work including the ones that the owner(Rick) made. I would highly recommend 'of hand and heart' it is off the main drag so sometimes hard to fine - make sure to make a beeline for this fabulous place.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 February 2024

- Susan R1 contributionMy first stop for beautiful quality hand made giftsThis is the third time I have purchased a beautiful gift. First one was for a colleague and she loves the pottery bird that now sits on her kitchen windowsill. The second one was a pottery blue whale wall hanging which now takes pride of place in my grandchildren's kitchen and just yesterday I bought a lovely pottery fantail wall hanging for friends housewarming gift. These treasures were all lovingly gift wrapped by Rick himself. The people in question were delighted to get these handmade gifts.Visited August 2024Travelled soloWritten 29 August 2024

A fantastic array of some of New Zealand’s best artists in clay, paint, sculpture .. you name it! We can never drive north without making time for a stop in Warkworth to visit yet again this gem of a gallery. That it is tucked away on the yellow brick road behind the shops in central Warkworth just makes it your own special secret! Don’t miss it

Follow the yellow brick road (painted) to this gallery of amazing, beautiful and quality items! The whole environment is so peaceful and displayed with beautifully presented NZ crafts and artwork- take your time and take in the detail and skill displayed. So nice to see quality through out and so well and tastefully displayed. Love this place!

We discovered this little gem of a gallery down an alleyway and were blown away by the amazing art displayed. There was such a variety that you can be sure to find something that grabs you. We found a piece of wall art made from weathered iron that is perfect for our new house. Best of all, the artist (and owner Rick Urban) was there in store. His sharing the story of how the piece came into being made the purchase and experience even more special. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

This little gallery has some unique pottery and other interesting art work. It is tucked down the rear of the shops, but follow the Yellow brick road” painted on the access way, and enjoy the fascinating range. Rick the proprietor (and potter) was really interesting to talk to about he manufacture of the pottery, some of which was his own work.
I was looking for a unique gift and “of hand and heart” did not disappoint. Many thanks !

Beautiful art, and the best small gallery I have ever been to. If we had more money, and not overspent, we may well have purchased a few things. The artwork and the sculptures are really great quality, but are not the cheapest. Would recommend anyone going through warkworth to stop on by and spend 10-15 minutes looking through the gallery.

The gallery is not on the main street and you have to follow a yellow brick road between shops. I nearly didn't bother but so glad that I paid a visit to this truly lovely place. It's wonderful and there are some marvellous pieces by amazing artists. There is so much variation you cannot possibly leave without finding something that appeals. I certainly did.

Lovely surprise to find this gallery in Warkworth. It has a wide range of original and beautiful art, it was all very well presented. It is a bit hard to find, but just follow the yellow brick road to get there. We loved this gallery and highly recommend it to everyone who is interested in art. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Hidden down a laneway at the rear of one of Warkworth’s most popular cafe’s, ‘Pete and Mary’s’ is the most amazing gallery called ‘of Hand and Heart’. Allow plenty of time to browse, you’ll find some of New Zealand’s finest pottery, ceramics, paintings, artworks, crafts and jewellery. It’s impossible to walk out the door empty-handed there are so many beautiful things to choose from.

You have to find the Yellow Brick Road. Once you find it follow it down the road away from the busy main road. There you will find a wonderful shop full of handmade ceramics and other works of art. It was just what we were looking for. It’s difficult to find locally made souvenirs but we were spoilt for choice here you won’t be disappointed.

Every piece in the shop is a gem worth a visit. A museum would spread out this collection over a vast area. But in this shop, it’s packed together but all known and loved. What’s most incredible is that it’s all for sale at realistic prices. Putting it within the range of possibility for ceramics collectors of all levels.
And for potters, it’s a must see collection.
