Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From a distance Rarawa beach looks like snow on the horizon as the sand on the beach is so white!
It's great for kids swimming as it is a very shallow beach and there's loads of space so it'll be never crowded.
However there are two watch-outs:
- cars drive onto the beach and the tyre tracks make a real mess of this otherwise beautiful location
- if you don't want to park on the beach then parking is limited on the access road

This is a stunning beach that is spoiled by allowing vehicles to drive on it. I would strongly recommend that they be banned.

Beautiful white sand and it is so soft. Can drive onto beach and a small carpark. Well worth having a picnic here on your way to Cape Reinga. The sand is almost squeaky. Kids would love the space to run here.

Stunning beach that makes you think you are in Fiji! Powder white sand and crytstal clear water make for a great place to swim and spend the day at the beach. No trees to provide shade near the road entrance but we were able to pitch out Sun Shelter using pegs and poles and it stayed up. Highly recommend stopping here for a swim on your way to the Cape.

Another cracking NZ beach with gorgeous, white, soft sand. The peace and beauty is a little disrupted by the occasional motorbike and vehicles roaring around.

Gorgeous white sandy beach, accessible via a short walk from the day use parking area. Huge white sand dunes and super fine soft sand- magical!

All I can say, this one beautiful beach. With beautiful white sand where the open ocean touches its shorelines. It also has gentle running creek that flows down the edge of the beach where it is safe for children and mums and dads to swim and play in.

* Lovely white silica sand
* Nice sand for kids to play with
* High tide water forms a shallow stream for toddlers to play safely in water
