Well worth the walk to see Cathedral Cove. Quite a walk back up, by still very manageable for all fitness levels. Good to have the toilets in the trees! Just up off the beach. Lovely view! Very popular walk and would love to do it again.

The track down into the actual cove is currently close due to structural damage as at April 2017, however the walk on the upper track along the cliffs is very beautiful with great views. Parking at the entrance car park is limited.

Apparently it gets busy so we got there at 6.30 am. There is a small car park at the top which is free. If you can’t get in there the overspill car park is another 30 min walk, which is why we got there early. There is a good tarmac track to cove. You need to be reasonable fit as... More

Even though full of tourists the walk there is quite nice. You can take a side walk here and there, where you'll be by yourself. The Cliffs and rocks of Cathedral Cove are probably most taken photos on the North Island. Tunnel Beach near Dunedin on the South Island is even more impressive - and much quieter.

We went right after the cyclone Debbie rains so we saw first hand how hillsides in NZ handle heavy rains. The paved wallet down to the bottom showed signs of water flow but for the most part the drainage worked. At he bottom there were felled trees and damage to steps that was being quickly evaluated by doc rangers. The... More

Not the easiest hike but it's well worth the trek. The sand and water are very clean. There are stars to get down to the water and some were broken! So be careful.

We walked as it was too tough for the kayak trip, and it was a lovely walk along the coast. Be careful if you stop to Sun bathe as we saw a couple camera and clothes etc get swamped by a big wave.

When we finally found a place to park, we felt we had to at least go to the trailhead. We did and could look over the side to see the long trail down to the cove. It isn't a difficult walk but does require some time. This is a beautiful cove and a landmark of this area. Visit this place... More

Very limited parking if you are planning to walk. That said, home owners on the road leading to the start of the walk rent out their driveway space at a reasonable rate. There is a composting toilet at the top by the car park - somewhat smelly but if you need to go it's a god send. The walk down... More
