With a short walk from the car park to the beach, it is very easy to access. the beach itself is clean, neat, and undisturbed. Bet to go at low tide to make sure you can safely walk through the cove and back again.

We did not realize the walk would be so bad!!! We assumed it was a short walk down to the beach, so we didn’t pack water! The beach it’s self is beautiful!

Cathedral cove is the highlight but it is worth stopping at the other 2 bays as well. It is quite a walk down which is harder on the way up but was well worth the effort. When i went the sea was quite rough so...More

I never tire of walking to the cove and back. The paths are wide & easy walking but with a few steep hills. Go early morning to miss the crowds. I found 8am the best time to walk & for the best photo opportunities.

In summer a shuttle service ran from the visitor car park to the start of the Cathedral Cove track. You pay around 3-5 NZ per person and family a different rate. The walk was a bit strenuous (since I had hay fever), else the view...More

This is a great walk. We started from the free park and ride carpark at the beginning of the village and walked to the beach and up to the beginning of the proper track. 20 mins to the start proper and then 40 mins to...More

We toyed with the idea of taking the water taxi from Hahei Holiday Park beach which was directly behind our lodge, but for some reason it was not running. The other alternative transport was the shuttle from the town car park which is not really...More

Hi. From the Hahei carpark it's about 45 minute walk one way. Alternatively you can park closer to the start of the walk. Some locals charge $10 to park on their property. From there it's a 30 minute walk. Enjoy!

We rented a car and drove to all our destinations. We are used to going it on our own. But there are shuttles that will take you. Just ask your concierge desk.
