We walked from Hahei. The first half (to the car park) is uneven in parts so care needs to be taken. The second half is a proper made up path although it still involves some hills. A word of warning, there are a lot of...More

This popular tourist attraction is worth the long walk, especially if you enjoy beautiful beaches. I've done it a few times, with no regrets.

Loved this walk along the coastline amongst the tropical vegetation - one of the highlights of our trip. Cathedral cover lovely but we particularly liked Hahei beach - a very special place - would have been lovely to have stayed here a few days if...More

The small car park was full at 9.30 am so we drove back to Hahei parked the car there and walked up the hill to the start of the walk. Some of the houses near the car park offer parking for $10 a day. The...More

The longer version of the walk starts from Hahei beach (but was closed when we went, due to repair work). We did the 30-40 min walk from the CC parking lot (which incidently also allows freedom camping for self contained vans). It was a scenic...More

Sealed walkway now. Lots of steps. Stunning view. Totally worth the walk. May challenge those less fit but would recommend still giving it a go.

45 minute walk from a very busy, very small car park. Lots of people which kinda impacts on the ability to enjoy the setting - the rock is constantly busy (and we went very much off peak!)....we've seen much better walks!!! Interesting enough but we...More

It was a hilly walk - rather tiring at times. But the views we got along the way and when we reached cathedral cove were breathtaking.

car park is free , but get there early as its very busy spot.
I will be going there in June with my elderly parents. Is there somewhere I can drop them off, to lessen their walk, while I go park the car, and walk from there? I also read something about there being a water taxi from Hahei. Would love more info on that as well.

Hi melcmel, I'm not sure if there's a place to drop off your parents as the only way to the cove is on the beach, which you reach from the carpark. The walk is very easy though, maybe that helps you out. I've seen many... More

I went on the walk just a few days ago! Shouldn't be closed if you start at the car park. (:
