Had visited the cove first some months ago alongside our journey but chose to see by boat cruise. An entirely different experience by foot! So glad we decided to head back again. Turquoise waters alongside the silica cliffs. Stunning vistas around every turn! Walk takes...More

It does look exactly like a n the pictures! The one disappointing thing about this destination is , as with man y well'publicised places , that you are not alone and it can in fact be very crowded !!

Stunning scenery, definitely worth the effort of walking there. Walk was challenging but the rewards are great. Can get a bit crowded with lots of tourists though. Highly recommended to stop by Stingray Bay along the way. Less well known (and less crowded) but very...More

Get here early, before 6.30am. The car park fills up quickly during good weather. The sunrise is worth seeing from the car park and the beaches. It is a relaxing and serene place before everyone comes along. The walk is slightly challenging but so worth...More

The walk to Cathedral Cove is without a doubt tough. It’s not impossible and fortunately it’s paved. It’s a tough hike because of the steep hills and the length of the hike. The hike was extra hard with a three year old in tow. However,...More

One of NZ's iconic must-do walks. The new asphalt track all the way down to the bottom provides a much-improved experience and certainly makes the walk a lot easier for the average walker. Simply amazing and worth every ounce of energy. Be sure to take...More

The walk from Hahei beach to cathedral cove is really nice. Cathedral cove it self is beautiful, the views amazing! It’s relaxing. I can imagine that it’s something a little crowded because a lot of people know about this great spot.

This was one of our highlights and a truly beautiful walk. We toured New Zealand for 3 weeks and this was one of the best walks we did. The views are absolutely incredible as you walk to Cathedral Cove. The walk moves from beaches to...More

We headed to Hahei for my mothers 70th because she loves this place. The walk to the Cove is about 40mins and some parts are quite steep and there are a lot of stairs but my 70 year old mother did it relatively easily. There...More

Lovely tarseal walkway all the way to the Cove. Excellent photo ops and amazing scenery. There are a lot of people though so hard to take a clear photo of just the Cove.

Hi. From the Hahei carpark it's about 45 minute walk one way. Alternatively you can park closer to the start of the walk. Some locals charge $10 to park on their property. From there it's a 30 minute walk. Enjoy!

We rented a car and drove to all our destinations. We are used to going it on our own. But there are shuttles that will take you. Just ask your concierge desk.

We walked from the village as we were staying there. Overall it was probably 35/40 minutes more.
