    Butterflies and bananaquits!
Go for the butterflies, stay for the bananaquits! If you are a birder, it is worth the entry fee just to see the absolutely CHAOTIC number of bananaquits that visit the feeders. There must have been hundreds. You can hear them from like a block away. Definitely worth seeing! There is also a beautiful small outdoor garden, and the butterflies are really nice too.

    Loved this place
Loved this place. Perfect place to go on a rainy day as most of it is under cover. Close to town within walking distance. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but a lush tropical paradise once you get in. The butterflies and flowers were great with benches to sit on inside the conservatory. Ducks to view and bunny’s in hutches for petting made it nice for the kids. The best part was the humming bird and bananaquits. There are hundreds and a nice covered seating area complete with hammocks to view them. Also a nice clean bathroom area as well.

Fun Opportunity to Experience Mindo's Butterfly Biodiversity
We had a great experience at the Mariposario. We came in expecting to see lots of butterflies, which we did. The butterflies are housed in a main enclosure that you can walk through to observe them at your leisure. The fun surprise was that there are also some short walking trails, rabbits, and hummingbird feeders to enjoy. The staff was very kind, and although they spoke limited English, it was not an issue. Great family friendly activity that doesn't require a huge time commitment.

At first we didn't know what to expect since this seems like a mom-and-pop business and it was pretty informal. But Don Francisco was very cordial and started right away to explain the life cycle of the butterfly. We enjoyed all four areas: the life cycle section [where I got to hold a huge caterpillar], the butterfly area, the orchids, and the hummingbird observation deck. We got some outstanding pictures, and the warm, family atmosphere assured us that the $5.00 per person fee was definitely worth it. You can tell that Francisco loves nature and has respect for butterflies and hummingbirds. Definitely recommend!

We went to the Nathaly Butterfly Center because it was in town. We had the place to ourselves. Well, just us and hundreds of butterflies! You enter through an orchid garden. Then, you have to find the opening in overlaid green tarp (to keep the butterflies from escaping. Next are several large mesh boxes with butterflies in all stages of development. Then, another overlapping tarp, and you are in! So many butterflies! All colors and sizes. We walked around the paths and enjoyed the antics of the butterflies. After leaving the butterfly area,, we enjoyed the hummingbirds and bananaquits in the hammock area. Definitely worth the price of admission!

The place was very close to the main square and the people that work there was really nice! We got a small tour where we got to see the butterflies evolution from egg, larvas, cocoon and then butterflies. Really nice and the location again is great.cant really ask for more. They also have a humming bird viewing area at the end of your trip there :) they will guide you when you get to the exit which is also the entrance ^^

I do not recommend visiting the place to tourists, during two visits we made in the month he charged 6 dollars per person and when a group of two families arrived he charged them 5 dollars and others less; when we approached to claim for us to return the money he did not want, and left the window as if nothing had happened.
Very bad image of this place, for both domestic and foreign tourism.
I will not return and recommend guides NOT bring tourists to this place, there will surely be another butterfly of better care and with clearly established rates without wanting to take advantage of people!

We went to Mindo spontaneously and had read about this Mariposario on the internet. At the ticket office we asked in Spanish whether there were hummingbirds to see. The monosyllabic answer was: 'few'. The lady at the ticket office was generally unfriendly and not prepared to explain to us in one or two sentences what there was to see. When we then asked whether the entrance fee (5 USD) was the same for children, she just told us to leave. This was the most unfriendly encounter in our 3-week holiday in Ecuador...

We visited the butterfly farm and were the only ones there. Located right in the town of Mindo it is a great place to spend some time.

Our guide provided a tour so we didn't have much interaction with the owners. The garden is like an oasis when you enter - so many different tropical plants and a very pretty waterfall area.

We first saw the butterflies in their various cocoon phases. The process is really fascinating. Then we entered the butterfly area where they fly everywhere! It was hard to keep up with the different varieties there were just so many. They love the banana and by putting some on our finger we were able to have one rest comfortably to enjoy his lunch.

We walked through the orchid garden as well and at the exit is also a hummingbird garden with many different species visiting the feeders.

The whole place was just beautiful and highly recommended to visit.

A very good way to spend an afternoon. The greenhouse had many different types of butterflies and there was also an outdoor area to watch hummingbirds feeding. We thought we would stay for an hour but ended up there for almost 3 hours.

I had no idea what to expect. Learned about the birth and life span of butterflies. Super short life cycle. Saw them from cocoon to birth. Fascinating to see the life cycle up close. Even got a video of one breaking it's cocoon and fully coming out. Took about 2i minutes. And the butterflies! Hundreds of them and so beautiful. They even land on your hand.

Beautiful butterflies and nice informative tour as well. It's not a real big area but there are several little seating areas to relax and let the butterflies come to you. The orchids and other plants on the way in to the butterfly house are very interesting to see also. Definitely worth a stop while visiting Mindo!

There was an area at the beginning which showed cases with each stage of pre- butterly before going into the butterfly enclosure. We were the only people there and the butterflies were definitely attracted to the banana put out. There was a hummingbird viewing area which was a really nice peaceful area to watch and also attracted other birds such as woodpeckers. Didn’t think much of the staff member on duty at all.
