Besalu is worth spending a couple of days as it is one of those quiet cities in Spain where one can really enjoy the old buildings, including the famous bridge of Besalu.

Definitely worth a detour off the main road to visit Besalu itself but particularly the Roman Bridge with its many arches and fortifications.

Lovely bridge and town. Well worth a visit. You can jump in the river if it gets too hot, and sunbathe on it’s grassy banks.
