I think these painted blocks were hauled in and placed near the boat docks as a sort of defensive move regarding other ships "sneaking" into port. The blocks need a bit of repainting and they are colorful. Walk out and have a look--the sea air...More

It gives the pier a different look, and a good look, by the way. It turns an ordinary part of the town into a piece of art.

Why don’t all harbour authorities do this painting to their supporting boulders, great fun and effective.

A fairly nice landmark of Llanes with great views and most restaurants and shops in close distance. Must visit if you are in the area.

We saw these from multiple angles as we walked around the port of Llanes so one would keep seeing them. Really not much to look at. And didn't find anything significant or historical about them either.

Quirky and different, worth a stroll around the harbour to see these interesting sea defences. Was wondering if they painted them in situ or before they were postioned?!

When walking around Llanes on a sunny day, the cubicles are worthy of a detour as they liven up the otherwise grey-ish port area. While the cubicles paint is indeed a little faded, this not take away from the liveliness and the lovely views of...More
