Prison on the water
This museum is free but really does not have much to offer It did have one famous jail break in 1960 of Alvaro Cunhal Not worth a detour

Worth a quick look.
Museu Municipal de Peniche, is a pretty small museum which is worth a quick visit. Basically the museum houses evidence of the political prison of Salazar’s dictatorship in the 20th century.

Could be much better but absolutely worth a visit..
Could be a lot better as a museum and it's collections and English explanations , however it's a very interesting visit in reagrda to Portugese history and especially when it was used as a prison under the Salazar regime. You only get to see the cells and other parts of the fort…
