Not very COVID safe
Mar 2021
We did really like this shopping center! We got some cute souveniers and had the smoothies and dole whip. As for the COVID percautions stores were not requiring hand sanitizer usage nor did they have any to use. There were also many people in the shopping center not wearing masks which made me feel uncomfortable. The overall shops were fantastic and we loved them I just wished that our safety of the pandemic was important there.

A variety of shops and eateries
Mar 2020
This is cute outdoor shopping center that has a real variety of shops. There are clothing stores, gift stores, food stores, multiple coffee shoos and some other random shops. It is located in the center of town off of Ali'i Drive and is easy enough to walk to from many of the hotels in the area.

Half Empty - Sad
Mar 2020 • Couples
We walked through these shops, but half of them are vacant; it’s very sad and disappointing to see. Kona simply isn’t the town it used to be. Sadly, there are also homeless people who wander through the are as well. The traffic on Ali’i drive is a mess, with cars and trucks blasting stereos, making it a nightmare to walk peacefully and enjoy the stroll.

Easy place to shop with out to much walking.

Nice thing about this shopping village is the Kona Inn Restaurant bar, a really great place for a man to sit while his family shops for souvenirs. They make good cocktails and serve real cold draft beer at a reasonable price. (cheapest place yet on the island) Apparently back in the day this was the first hotel in Kona where steamships brought tourists to stay. Love the old colonial look of the place. According to my female companions the village shops are all close together and caterer for both young or older shoppers. Lots of souvenirs and nic-nac for sale, along with clothing, gifts, and coffee stores.

TIP: After a hard day shopping there is nothing nicer than an icy cold adult beverage on the patio of the Kona Inn watching the sun go down

Shopping and visiting

Such a lovely village to walk around and explore all the amazing shops. I love going to the Kona coffee café as their drinks are really good. The restaurants are really nice too with very yummy food. There is lots to do and see in the village and it has a market which is also lovely to walk around and go have a look at. It is a fun village to hang around in.

If you love shopping, this is the place for you
Oct 2019
My hubby graciously drove me across the island from Hilo for the day. We had a great time. I loved all the touristy shops, especially the ABC store! Be mindful, the Hawaiian shirts there are made in China! Look at the tags if you want authentic, made in Hawaii shirts. Looking at the questions below, some places are expensive. If you want inexpensive, keep to local farmer’s markets and shops. There is a public parking area with a kiosk to pay.
