I can not understand what they find in this landscape. You can see it everywhere... If you go to Melnik (Meleniko for the Greeks) tour the village, as it has nice old houses to see.

The Melnik pyramids are unique sand formations, typical for the region. The name of the smallest town in Bulgaria comes from the old slavonic word "mel" which describes these white sand/clay pyramid-like formations. They can be seen from any place in Melnik (not so impressive...More

I expected the Melnik rock dunes to be as spectacular as the Belogradchik sand rocks. They are absolutely fascinating, but I simply didn't enjoy this as much. Four days for Belogradchik were over way too soon, but four days for Melnik started to become tedious...More

Very historic rock formations above the town. Makes a great view from the MELNIK hotel. Very quaint little town. Probably not more than several hundred citizens

Pyramids are everywhere in Melnik but the best are on the way to Rozhen. Also good view from the Despot Fortress.

The view is amazing. We have little children so we went for the easiest route to reach a very good and comprehensive view point. We walked from the Rozhen monastery and not up the trail from Melnik. The first view point is recognized by some...More

We hiked up the pyramids to the very end early in the morning, after visiting the monastery. Wonderful experience with amazing views. Not a soul in sight. Highly recommended, but not for those who are afraid of heights.

The walk from Melnik to Rozhen Monastery is breathtaking - both for the steepness as well as for the sand formations. Walking up through the riverbed is a gentle start but crossing the ridge means some steeper parts over rocks and close to the ridges....More

The Melnik Pyramids are easily seen from the cities of Melnik and Rozhen and when travelling the road that connects them. They should not be the main reason that you travel to this area cause they don't offer something really special, since you cannot get...More
