We enjoyed the seeing the gentleman/guide shoot the canon. He was very informative. But for the price it would have been nice to be handed a guide paper. When we weren’t given one so we assumed there would be a lot of signage info but...More

We enjoyed a quiet tour w/ several of the staff, especially Harris, who answered EVERY question we had about the fort and its history! I truly educational trip to the past which made us that much more grateful for the present, lol. Cannon shot was...More

This fort has a great story. The guides are dressed in civil war era clothing. Walter gave a great informational talk and really engages the audience. Of course the cannon firing was great but the real credit goes to the guides. Our stop at Fort...More

Nice way to spend a couple hours and learn a little more history of the area. Both the south and north are represented in the reenactments. The firing of the cannon is a nice way to finish

A great self guided tour for under $10. Fort sits along no Savannah River and grounds are well kept. Civil War era cannon fired throughout day. Nice gift shop.

Went to several old Forts in Georgia and South Carolina, Ft. Jackson was the best! Loved the live firing! Also, friendliest staff around!

Like other posters, randomly found this place (originally named Fort James Jackson) in the middle of nowhere, but this National Historic Landmark ended up being nice little visit. We attended second week of March so it was pretty empty. If you plan to do some...More

I have never before witnessed a cannon being fired. Wow, what an awesome experience! They fire the cannon twice a day. You stand safely about forty feet away. The firing is proceeded by an interesting history lesson on Fort Jackson, and a lesson on basics...More

It’s fairly close to the historic section of Savannah. It’s probably a 10-15 minute drive, mostly along the same road. Signage could be a bit better so keep your eyes out. Once you turn left off the main road, the fort is... More

Cannon firing presentations include a history of the site and its significance. When kids visit, we try to make our programming as interactive as possible, including mock drill and marching.
