Terrific collection of mixed media art and sculpture in a unique venue. There is terrific signage throughout the museum, stop and read. I was drawn in by the mosaic work, sidewalk murals and sculptures seen from the street and completely surprised! Unique funky giftshop, too.

Museum was beautiful. I was expecting more mind tricks than actual art. If you read the exhibits though they have pretty cool stories.

Every time I bring a friend here they rave about it. It's a different museum with really creative exhibits. They have a regular collection, and new, temporary exhibits - as most museums do. You'll have fun here.

I love this creative space, especially all the mirrored trees, and the great exhibits. I have told many people to visit here.

So happy to discover this amazing museum filled with exhibits running the gamut from playful to thought provoking to heartbreaking. There are two buildings as well as an outdoor space so give yourself plenty of time to absorb it all.

Seriously! Such an awesome museum! We enjoyed all of it! Very different from any art museum we've ever visited! It did cost to experience it but totally worth it. Art and collections by everyday people. So different and fun. We almost missed another huge building...More

Thank you for your visit and 5-star review. We're sorry you didn't receive information about our other buildings from our staff. Our front desk receive training to provide that for each visitor, as well as a Handy Info sheet that details what's in each part...More

You have the art museum. Then you have the American Visionary Art Museum. If you only enjoy average art museums, this museum is not for you. If you enjoy something that is completely different from your typical art museum, this is worth your visit.

A remarkable collection of works on the margins of conventional art, and you may well envision the world differently after going through it. Painting, sculpture, collages, costumes, oversize things, things that have no name... Definitely interesting.
