Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The park is full of easily accessible and well marked trails along the river and creeks. It is great for walking the dog, running, and mountain biking. People seem pretty friendly along the trails and it feels very safe with all the hikers around. Great place to be in nature!

You are in the heart of Philadelphia - a major American city. But once you descend into this trail network, you will feel totally outside the city. A paved trail is perfect for walkers and cyclists. But there are other off-shoot trails that are more rugged for hiking, biking and really working up a sweat.

The Wissahickon Valley is beautiful and rich with history. People flock to Forbidden Drive for a walk, run or gathering. Lovely places to stop along the way. But you won't be alone and most likely most people are not wearing masks.

I had no idea this park existed until a friend told us about it. About an hour and fifteen minutes from the jersey shore you can find this hiking and biking trail. The trails are wide. A little up and down but not to strenuous if you are looking for a nice hike to do. We did the 6 mile yellow trail. Rocky and rooty terrain but a beautiful easy trail. Some bikers on the trail so just be careful. There are a few pretty waterfalls and watering holes along the way, but you can’t swim. Highly recommend if you are looking for something outdoorsy to do

I took the regional rail from 30th street station in uCity to Wissahickon station. Near the station there is entrance to the trail at the end of Freeland Avenue.
Walking alone the Forbidden Drive, having chats with friends is great. If you follow the Forbidden Trial, then there won’t be too much slopes but if you choose to go across the creek to the orange trail, it could be muddy and slippery.
It took us nearly two and a half hours from the Wissahickon Station to the Chestnut Hill West station and we took the train there back to uCity. Convenient enough without a car.

Husband was playing in a tournament at Philadelphia Cricket Club and I walked to the park (about 1 mile) and then walked several miles on the wide trail along the creek. Plenty of shade, quite a few folks, walkers, bikes, and even horses, although the trail is wide enough I was never crowded. Great find!

This is my fourth time visiting this park and I always explore a different area ( mind you this pak is huge; 2,000 acres) and each time I fall in love all over again. It's so beautiful, peaceful and well kept. Depending the area you are visiting parking can getva little tricky. Everything is about planning accordingly and you'll have a great time. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, take plenty of water and don't leave your trash behind.

It’s a beautiful area marred by careless visitors. Lots of trash and graffiti on the trails. It seems folks visit to swim, despite rules prohibiting it. On one of the paths, a number of diapers were dumped in the center. Unfortunately this place will need a lot more policing to return it to its potential.

This is a true hidden gem; park is heavily wooded with miles of trails. One of the trails lead to a Hermits cave high up in the hills. Very calm and peaceful atmosphere in the middle of the city.

Visited today with the goal of finding the " Indian" Statue on this hike, and wanted to share.
Park on Valley Green Rd as close as you can to the restaurant. Odds are you'll Park along Valley Green rd unless you arrive early.
The Statue is located about a mile from the restaurant. If you park on Valley Green rd, know that the Statue is to your right along the White Trail. Don't head left towards the restaurant.
If you just want to see the Statue without all the hiking, drive to the dead end at Rex Avenue and park. From there it's only 1-2 tenths of a mile walk, the shortest by far. The crossroads are Singleton and Rex.
Lastly, it's hard to photograph the front of the Statue because there's a mere 15" of ledge to stand on in front of the Statue which is perched and cemented on a huge rock. I guess he's looking over the Valley! You can be braver and stand on that ledge and take a selfie though.

Hi Been in the Northern end during any daylight hour . Never an issue . Won't go at night as there would be no light at all. Great hiking trails especially since it is in a city. Not a groomed developed park . Hiking is very natural.

Do you need a car to see most of the park or can you Uber to one of the parking lots? I was thinking of starting at one parking lot then switch to another. Want to see the covered bridge, Devils Pool and Fingerspan Bridge for sure.

You could be dropped off and start at the Falls on Ridge Avenue between Wissahickon Park and East Falls and walk up to Valley Green Inn.
You can then explore the locations you had mentioned and there is another parking lot you could arrange for pick up at Bells Mill Road.

Which entrance would you recommend for a trail with some of the prettiest scenery?

Start at the Valley Green Inn restaurant and cross the bridge over the creek. After the bridge take the stairs to the left to the trail and continue on that trail to the left (if you go to the parking lot you’ve missed the entrance to the trail)

Hi we are staying in Philadelphia for 4 nights 1st week in October(hotel is Penn's View Hotel, about 10 mins walk from Liberty Bell)We are quite keen walkers. Is there easy access from where we are out to Wissahickon Park , eg so we can explore walking trails for half a day or so? Thanks! Mike and Brid from UK

You can ask the concierge at your hotel for information on SEPTA buses which take you to the Wissahickon Transpirtation Center. Across the street there is a trail into the park. Or take an Uner. There is a walking trail along the River but it is about 10 miles to the Wissahickon Psrk from there,
