This diagonal street crosses much of Manhattan and takes you through many neighborhoods. One recent excellent change is the creation of little plazas that are closed to traffic right in the middle of big intersections. Chairs and tables and you have an instant cafe in the middle of a lot of activity. Brilliant! Check out Herald Square.

    Busy, busy, busy
We came here a couple of times back in June to take in the overall atmosphere and all the billboards advertising the latest shows on this famous part of Manhattan. It's all pretty busy here at most times of the day. In the evenings you have theatre guests milling around as they move to the shows they decided to see. I went to the Golden Theatre earlier in the day to see if they had any of the advertised cheaper seats to see Jodie Cromer in Prima Facie. They hadn't... I, for one, found the ticket prices ridiculously expensive. But that didn't stop my son shelling out on a ticket to see the Lion King at the Minksoff theatre. He enjoyed this musical immensely and even bought some of the merchandises. The streets around here are bustling with many street vendors selling fast food, drinks etc. All very lively.

    Fantastic!
My partner and I went to go and see Six whilst staying in New York. I absolutely loved it! The music was fantastic and the girls were extremely talented. It is not your typical theatre show as there are not any prop/costume changes. However, it is really fun and an easy watch musical. I thoroughly recommend and I would happily see it again!

Broadway is a road you automatically associate with Times Square and theatres. Indeed it bisects 42nd Street and this is where Times Square is located and it is in the theatre district but the road goes much longer. It starts in Union Square further South and goes to Columbus Circle and then up the Upper West Side to Washington Heights. There are lots different things to see as you go along the road depending on whereabouts in the city you are.

Do not forget a Broadway show!
We were able to see a Sunday matinee of Wicked, and caught a Tuesday evening showing of Lion King. It was spectacular. My children are 8 and 11, and did very well. Both are family friendly. I would say Lion King is better for a child's first time with a Broadway show, but my 8 year did great with both shows (preferred Lion King). I have previously seen The Book of Mormon by myself. Broadway is an absolute must if you are traveling to NYC. There is nothing that screams New York to me, than this area. The shows are fantastic, the talent and costumes phenomenal. It's a dream come true.

    New York's Theater District
Broadway is the busy thoroughfare that cuts diagonally through Midtown Manhattan passing through Times Square, Herald Square at Macy's and near the Empire State Building and ends at Union Square after passing by the much-photographed Flatiron Building. However, in truth, Broadway describes New York's theater district as many of the best-known theaters in town are located on or near the street. Taking in a Broadway show is a must-do experience when visiting NYC.

A fantastic museum for lovers of the stage, some really cool props, costumes and models dotted throughout. The staff are knowledgeable and either love to tell you more about the exhibit you're in or chat about what shows you've seen etc. A really nice atmosphere and you could go through as quick or slow as you liked.

There's a lot of history packed in here as well as parts about how a show is put together. There are also some really fun photo opportunities with partial set builds etc.

I really enjoyed my visit and I'm jealous we don't have something similar for the West End in London.

A group of 40 of us booked this museum as part of a NY city day trip. We were greeted and escorted in to a room where the museum was explained. We then were taken in small groups to see a movie about the history of Broadway. Then we were on our own to follow the marked floor through 3 levels of interesting displays of facts and information on Broadway. As well of the facts and history you’ll see many stage setts and some fantastic costumes used in many fabulous plays & musicals. It was a pleasure to go here as I learned so much of what it takes to put on a great performance on the stage

This was such a moving musical with extremely talented actors and actresses. We laughed and cried and then repeated. They did an amazing job of spanning the generation ties for Noah and Alli. I can not speak highly enough about this musical production. Watch out Broadway...this is a superstar ready to shine bright!

I had brilliant seats in this lovely theater. Nonetheless, I walked out 30 minutes into the show, the WORST Broadway show I have EVER seen.

1. Actors horribly faked British accents
2. Actors talked with their backs to the audience
3. Dialogue was fast and totally unintelligible, you'll get a headache trying to understand them
4. Hermione character was completely miscast
5. Production had the feel of a junior high school play

This was a total waste of $300.

Excellent theater - so cozy. Drinks are PRICEY - drink beforehand if you can! Excellent production as well & great value. My teen-age niece loved it - saw it when Sarah Hyland (from Modern Family) starred as Audrey. The cast was WONDERFUL about signing autographs after the show as well. (It was a Thursday night; their availability to sign likely depends on the date?)

If you are a fan of Broadway musicals, this is the museum for you. There were some small exhibits about dramas, but mostly it was costumes, programs, and write-ups about musicals. Not a bad thing, but not really a full exploration of Broadway. Note that it is handicapped-accessible, but you have to get a staff member to take you on the elevator. They were very accomodating, and there is a handicapped-accessible restroom near the ticket desk.
