It runs from the top to bottom of Manhattan. Walking along it, you see some of the best & worst of America. Strongly recommend walking this street while in NYC.Visited April 2023Written 11 April 2023
- David SMiddlesbrough, United Kingdom1,722 contributionsICONIC AND MANICPrimarily in Midtown, the area is both frantic and mesmerising at the same time. A relatively easy 20 minute walk from the cruise ship terminal and well worth the effort to get there to soak up the ambiance. My wife and I visited New York for two days as part of a larger trip and really enjoyed the opportunity to visit Broadway. The number of big show events is staggering.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 June 2023
- Thomas VOakland, California16,858 contributionsNew Little ParkletsThis diagonal street crosses much of Manhattan and takes you through many neighborhoods. One recent excellent change is the creation of little plazas that are closed to traffic right in the middle of big intersections. Chairs and tables and you have an instant cafe in the middle of a lot of activity. Brilliant! Check out Herald Square.Visited May 2023Written 30 July 2023
- EyekaytooLeverkusen, Germany3,047 contributionsBusy, busy, busyWe came here a couple of times back in June to take in the overall atmosphere and all the billboards advertising the latest shows on this famous part of Manhattan. It's all pretty busy here at most times of the day. In the evenings you have theatre guests milling around as they move to the shows they decided to see. I went to the Golden Theatre earlier in the day to see if they had any of the advertised cheaper seats to see Jodie Cromer in Prima Facie. They hadn't... I, for one, found the ticket prices ridiculously expensive. But that didn't stop my son shelling out on a ticket to see the Lion King at the Minksoff theatre. He enjoyed this musical immensely and even bought some of the merchandises. The streets around here are bustling with many street vendors selling fast food, drinks etc. All very lively.Visited June 2023Written 13 August 2023
- Suzanna1 contributionFantastic! My partner and I went to go and see Six whilst staying in New York. I absolutely loved it! The music was fantastic and the girls were extremely talented. It is not your typical theatre show as there are not any prop/costume changes. However, it is really fun and an easy watch musical. I thoroughly recommend and I would happily see it again!Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 August 2023
- therichastillStevenage, United Kingdom2,719 contributionsFame, Fame, Fatal FameBroadway is a road you automatically associate with Times Square and theatres. Indeed it bisects 42nd Street and this is where Times Square is located and it is in the theatre district but the road goes much longer. It starts in Union Square further South and goes to Columbus Circle and then up the Upper West Side to Washington Heights. There are lots different things to see as you go along the road depending on whereabouts in the city you are.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 1 November 2023

The show exceeded my expectations and gave me goosebumps start to finish. The show was well written with an interval half way. I would 100% recommend the lion king to those who visit New York.

This musical….!!!!
I wasn’t keen but my hubby wanted to go. But seriously, this musical is a must see! Fantastic singers, dancers, decor, everything is amazing and moving! Go see it!
The only thing that was a little tricky was to actually get the tickets from TripAdvisor. You have to look for the correct email that has a link. And there are MANY emails from TripAdvisor. But this did not take away from the experience.

Wow , what an amazing cast and score. Baz Luhrmann's movie which is made into a musical is fast paced and exciting. A great array of popular and famous songs wind throughout this musical.

I got there for the third preview performance. I had read the script so I could follow the details. The "opera" aspect means that the dialogue is sung. The lighting and staging are spectacular. The band is lively but gives the cast a chance to be heard. Not everyone in the cast was at the level they need to be when the previews will be done, But Ali's (Tommy) performance is worth the price of admission alone. Some of the dance moves were mechanical and will probably get more relaxed. My seat was near the last row of the orchestra level and it gave an excellent overall view. The overhang of the mezzanine level doesn't interfere. The theater does not open until 7:30 for the 8:00 performamce. So there is a block-long line that develops. Then they hustle people in. The washrooms are upstairs, women and men on opposite sides. The ushers become hall monitors at intermission and everyone in the theater gets in line by gender. There is an alternative all-gender washroom on street-level. The show is entertaining and fun. But you knew that.

Although off Broadway, this show was brilliant. The only time we stopped laughing was in the interval. Our party was so glad we got tickets

Really good show, well worth going to see. Just immerse yourself in time travel. Good cast with plenty of singing and dancing and humour along the way. The finale is worth the admission money alone. We had picked up cheaper seats to the side and were a bit apprehensive we might not get a good view however it was absolutely fine and we were not disappointed.

What a show! SImply AMAZING! My son (just turned 8) and daughter (almost 5) LOVE this Disney movie. My daughter listens to the Lion King Tonie every night before bed and our trip to Animal Kingdom and stay at the Animal Lodge last year is still fresh in their minds. It seemed appropriate that this be their first Broadway Experience. It did not disappoint! Tickets are VERY pricey though. When we arrived at the theater @30 minutes before the production, the line was wrapped around the building, but it moved fast and we got to our seats quickly. The costumes were unbelievable! We had a tough time deciding on our favorite animal/character. Music is fabulous as well. It is a long show (2 and half hours with one intermission), but my children were engaged the entire time. So glad this was their first Broadway experience! Definitely recommend this play!

We will be in New York City for 4 days and want to see 2 or 3 shows, especially Tina, should we get our tickets in advance?

If you really want to see a show, yes. There's no telling if you can find tickets for your particular night, on show day. If you want to guarantee a seat on that night, get the rockets as early as possible.

Hi! My friends and I are visiting NYC and want to see a Broadway show. We looked and agreed on "Mrs. Doubtfire" which is a new and upcoming musical. However, we're only in the city during its preview timeframe. We're there March 18-22, so about 10-14 days into their preview schedule.
What difference is the Broadway preview to the actual post-opening show?
Like, is it closer to as if we're in their rehearsal studio, with interrupted director cuts, and on-off music pause to correct lines/dances, etc? Or is it closer to an actual show, where, sure there are some minor [sometimes un-noticeable] mistakes not to be directed until after the show, etc.? I hope I'm making sense...
Will appreciate your answers!

It's the show. Only before it considers itself ready to be reviewed. Tickets are usually less expensive. Sometimes an understudy will replace a lead. But don't worry. I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Hands down, TodayTix is great - the web page or app for Broadway, Off-Broadway, London’s West End, Sydney, Chicago, and on and on. In New York and London, I always use the app. Either way, you see up-to-date pricing and seat availability, reduced prices and lottery seats, closing dates, and upcoming shows. A head-spinning sweep of shows you’ve heard about and great shows you haven’t heard about — yet!

In the middle of Times Square go to the TKTS booth. You can get discounted same day tickets for Broadways plays and musicals. Also off Broadway too.
