We were staying at the hostel on the UWS so took the 1 train to 79th & Broadway to see this Banksy on the DSW building before walking on to the American Museum of Natural History right in this same area. I have been a follower of Banksy's work for some time and a couple days later we went to the Banksy Exhibition: Genius or Vandal in the city that we bought tickets for thru Fever. That was an amazing exhibition altho it is unauthorized by the artist himself. Really explained a lot about the symbolism of his art.. My family living in the UK also really know Banksy's work as well. It inspired me to buy the book on Amazon written by the artist called Wall and Piece. He certainly has a sense of purpose and a sense of humor, and he's a sneaky little devil. :)

This is a wall art display. On the same street as Zabars. Nice if you want to get a picture. But not much to see. Definitely go to Zabars if you visit this attraction.

So happy to see a Banksy still in place! Please stop in Zabar’s around the corner and give them some business. So thankful they didn’t sell or get rid of this little treasure:)

It is Always exciting to see an original piece of art by Banksy. Worth the walk over from Central Park.

very cool as I wanted to visit Zabaars anyways. The hammer boy is right across the street. Also, the cost was free - can't beat that. Right by a subway station as well

Back in 2013, Banksy had a 31 day stay in NYC and left behind several pieces to be remembered by but at this time there is only 1 of his works that still exist. Should you decide to check it out the next time you are in the city, you will have to hike up to W 79th Street to see it (or take the 1 metro train which can whip you up there really fast from Penn Station). As you exit the station, don’t let the First Baptist Church distract you (it is gorgeous!). Go the opposite direction on W 79th Street from it and you will see the Banksy behind a thick sheet of plexi glass. Once you have seen it, walk up the street and buy something from Zabar’s to say thank you for protecting this remaining Hammer Boy.

We loved seeing this steps from the subway. Knowing the history of Banksy and what art can do for conversation it was worth stopping by. What does this image mean? Why is it here? Questions we loved to talk about while seeing this.

Went in search of this Banksy after doing the Brooklyn Unplugged Graffiti Tour where it was mentioned. Zabars the deli on 2245 Broadway is campaigning to save this artwork and they were very helpful in telling me exactly where it was. Glad I made the effort to see it although it is not amongst the best I have seen of Banksy.
