About
Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Audio and guided tours are available for those with a passion for history. More information regarding tours and ways to plan your visit can be found on the Grand Central Terminal website.

    Nice building
I visited at night after going to Summit One Vanderbilt (which you reach from inside the Grand Central Terminal). It's free to visit and a beautiful building. It was a bit hard to find everything I wanted to see though, I wish they had maps available. The information booth people are helpful in answering questions.

    Huge and spectacular
This place is huge and spectacular. Loved the little food market inside all types of food going. We found the area outside oyster bar where you talk to the wall and opposite your partner can hear you. Staff on information were really helpful with trains

    This is a station?
This for me was the high spot of New York, strange but true I simply adore Art Deco and this is probably the finest example of Art Deco architecture I have seen. We spent an afternoon wandering around this magnificent building Icould not believe we could go anywhere if this had been England we would have needed platform tickets. New Yorkers I just hope you appreciate what a fantactic building you have.

    It's a station, it's huge, it's beautiful and there's a lot of marble!
We left this as an option for our last day, although both wanted to see it for its Art Deco architecture. As it was raining biblically, and we could, after a brief walk in the rain, board the purple eastbound subway line direct to it, we went. It is truly magnificent and has been beautifully restored, but I'm glad we didn't pay $35 each for a "secret" tour. The marble! The ceiling! The facade! The fabulous signs for the food area. The clock (not as large as I'd envisaged, but very beautiful all the same) The lack of seats (see also JFK airport) - is this an American "thing"? Not feeling rich enough or inclined to sample the oyster/lobster bar, we grabbed a coffee and vainly looked for somewhere to sit. Issuing out into the still torrential rain to the signed taxi rank, there were no taxis. At all. A 25 minute wait ensued, and eventually by dint of rushing across the road and virtually hurling ourselves under the wheels of one, we managed it. It seems extraordinary that a vast station, with an advertised cab rank has none. Apparently it was due to the rain.

    Grand Central Station
The place is beautiful with marble all over, reasonable restaurants, chandelier, ceiling stars, and it’s a good place to people watch. The people that work there are very friendly and very informative. They tell you the best way to get anywhere. We bought the $30 metro card. Just make sure you take the right subway. If unsure ask the people with a smile. We asked the older people. The young ones have earphones. 😆 it’s the cheapest way to travel. The taxis are expensive.

    Worthwhile No-Cost Visit
We visited Grand Central Terminal at evening rush hour. The architecture is fabulous with the celestial ceiling. We tried to avoid people racing for the trains. It is worthwhile no-cost site to visit. The tours closed while we were there but I would consider it on future visit.

Parker says "Grand old Grand Central"
Still Grand. Amazing architecture, expansive, imposing, impressive and much cleaner than when I commuted here in the 1970's. The food court has come back to life after a few tough years, and the selections are vast and diverse, just like NYC itself. Go down below and check out the new LIRR station that they almost secretly built!!! Very impressive and designed to be compatible with the old terminal. GCT is the heart of New York City, so even if you don't use the trains, it is well worth a visit.

One of my favourite NYC buildings
Grand Central Terminal is beautiful. I fantastic building to be in. Always enjoy spending time here and admiring the architecture, seeing the hustle and bustle. It has many eateries, the whispering wall is fun, and it's a great place to catch trains from!

A must see place in New York . Grand central is a train terminal but it’s more than that . Railway station has trains to Connecticut and many other instead state trains . Fantastic location..

Amazing architecture .. inside of grand central is just photogenic ! Superb . Lots of restaurants around . Lots of places to eat : there is an Apple showroom inside : love it . Ther is a wine tasting bar inside .. of course parking is tough. Use taxis and trains to reach grand central . Good and other stuff are little expensive inside . A must see place in NY !

Grand Central is definitely a sight to see for NYC first timers or those who have never been to Europe before. The art in the main entrance is beautiful. However, most of the shops were closed when we were there (around noon) so it wasn't all that spectacular other than the main entrance.

Grand Central Terminal is like stepping into a piece of living history. The architecture is a breathtaking blend of the classic and the contemporary, with that famous celestial ceiling that just draws you in. The hustle and bustle of commuters mixes with a sense of timeless charm. It's not just a transit hub; it's an experience that effortlessly marries the old and the new. A genuine must-see, whether you're a local or just passing through.

When visiting the city I aways try to stop at Grand Central Terminal. It is a must see architectural gem. The terminal is a testimony to building preservation. There are several restaurants and shops in the terminal.

Grand Central Terminal is one of the most beautiful train stations that we've ever seen and we love being able to come here. The Main Concourse is truly something to see and the constellation ceiling is just gorgeous. It's a clean station and it has lots of shopping and dining including the famous Oyster Bar. It's a beautiful place to visit even if you're not taking a train and it's one we would recommend to anyone visiting the city.

The soaring architecture is awe-inspiring, and the vibe is always buzzing with energy. It's like a city within a city. Grab a bite, shop around, or simply people-watch – there's a unique charm in every corner.

This station is like no other… being from the U.K grand central is just beautiful. The whole of the station is clean, no litter, not overcrowded and the decor is beaut.

We went through here and also the went to simply look around and it didn’t disappoint. A must go to if a gossip girl fan but even if you’re not it’s worth stopping by.
