Overview
More
Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Audio and guided tours are available for those with a passion for history. More information regarding tours and ways to plan your visit can be found on the Grand Central Terminal website.

Look up & around. There are so many hidden gems and secret nooks and crannies, you'll need a guidebook to point them all out.

We saw this as part of our Subway Tour by Gary and it was an amazing finish to a great tour. The architecture is spectacular and it's such an iconic site from film and history that you have to check it out at least once!

Beautiful architecture and lovely atmosphere early in the morning. Worth exploring, and restrooms are clean and free and open from 8am.

The years long restoration of the station looks beautiful. I only wish they still had the HUGH Kodak Pictures back for all to enjoy. That WAS part of the stations history for decades as well as meeting someone near the information booth in the center...More

If you are in the area, stop in and take a look at the main hall in Grand Central Terminal. Beautiful architecture especially on the ceiling. Lots of shops and places to eat too.

A stunning and beautiful example of early 20th century ‘transport’ rail station design. It’s great to see it still used. You can almost imagine workers travelling to and from the nearby Chrysler Building, post 1929 stock market collapse. A must visit I when in NYC....More

Yes its a train station but if not for Jackie O it would have all the charm of Penn Station (which is none). There's actually quite a bit to see within the place. Some highlight: - Whispering walls - between the 1st and second levels...More

Being in New York City you might as well stop by and see the Station because of it's significant history as a hub of transportation. I also could reflect on how many movies I have seen this in through the years.

Hi Gina G -- please visit Metro-North Railroad's website to view Train Schedules. You will want to look at the Hudson line for train times to Beacon, NY.

not sure how far the actual store is but Penn Station is likely your best option from BWI to NYC. Once at Penn Station take a cab--faster.
