Closing

The museum is closing soon so most of the items have already been removed. I hear it will be converted to a ComiCon museum.

Cafe best part

For the sport enthusiast, it is worth a peek because it does cover so many different sports. Being from out of state, I probably didn't appreciate some of the info that Californians would; however, there are big events and big name people almost everyone will recognize.
We used our Go SD pass card, so entry was already paid. I am not sure if I would have paid if it weren't for the pass.
Now- the cafe...it was delicious! Very fresh food- we had a sandwich, burger and a PB&J sandwich for the little one. It is a good alternative if you need a quick bite while museum hopping.

We didn't have time to go through the museum but needed lunch so grabbed a quick bite. We each had custom made hamburgers... great service. Nice atmosphere. Not too busy.

San Diego has some great sport history and at one time this hall of fame was probably more taken care of. Most interactive displays were not working but the displays still were informative. It is large as they advertise in terms of size but once again needs updating. Would not have went in if it wasn't for the AAA discount which reduced the cost by half.

Interesting exhibition about sport heroes and heroin , even in high school level
Dec 2016 • Solo
This museum has 2 storeyed and one basement. Basement offers the exhibition about sail, which I don't know before that San Diego is a great area for surfing. The ground floor highlighs american sport heroes/heroins including american football, baseball , etc. the one that is unique is hall of fame for high school sport. On the second floor, that's nothing interesting.

Probably a Better Place for Southern Californians to Visit
May 2016 • Couples
This museum was just so-so for me. We did it at the end of the day, as the museums were closing since we had one more admission left on our Balboa Explorer pass.

If you are from San Diego or maybe even LA, this museum might be a 3-4 star experience for you. As the museum's name suggested, this place centers on sports in SD.

The museum itself was kept up nicely. We liked the sailing exhibit downstairs.

If you aren't that into sports or aren't from the area, you may wish to pas this one up.

I don't think we got a lot out of it since we are essentially life long New Yorkers.

Went there for my daughters official signing for her college scholarship. Great venue and was a fun event. If your kid got an athletic scholarship, this is a great place to sign!! Check the calendar for dates. Most sports are Nov 9.

San Diego Hall of Champions

I thought the Hall of Champions was ok. The museum needs some work though. I a lot of the interactive exhibits weren't working. Also it's very dark in there. There is lots of room to put in more exhibits. I did enjoy the Charger and Padres areas.

Very unimpressed

Not well done. Very little of interest and what there was not well presented. Third floor basically plaques on walls. So much more could be done.
