Due to road construction couldn’t get there
Sep 2021 • Couples
Due to road construction in Greenville we weren’t able to get there. We asked the National Park Service employee as well as another local that worked at another museum but neither were able to route us around the road work. I’m sure it’s lovely, if you can get there.

Final resting place of our 17th President
Jul 2021
Beautiful location for the final resting place of Andrew Johnson and his family with the National Cemetery on the steep hills around his grave. A very fun drive up with steep and narrow road but the view is great.

A peaceful location
May 2021
The highlight of this small cemetery is the impressive monument over the grave of President Johnson & his wife. This monument & other smaller monuments on the graves of other family members of President Johnson are surrounded by a small wrought iron fence. This cemetery is on the top of a small hill that has nice view of the surrounding area. Besides being historic, this is a nice, peaceful place to visit.

Sacred land

Very hilly but beautiful with all the rows of headstones. Christmas wreaths had been placed on every one. Touching.

Interesting American history
May 2020 • Solo
This is a suggested stop. This entire area is rich with US History. Pres. Andrew Johnson and family are honored in this national cemetery. Very steep hills (with stairs) and a breathtaking view. Surreal.
My memory was tested with the story of Andrew Johnson's wife.
Traveling and learning, while paying respects. This was the perfect stop.

(Park at top of cemetery, not down below just in side the gate on the right. Drive to the top)

A surprising cemetery
Oct 2019
The cemetery was a surprising find. It is a very tall hill on the outskirts of town. Access is by a narrow winding two lane road to the top where there are four of five parking spots. The Andrew Johnson family plot is at the top. There are plots all around the sides of the hill with a great view out into the countryside.

Presidential Monument
May 2019 • Friends
The Andrew Johnson Military Graveyard has a lovely monument to Andrew Johnson. Plus, his wife left a secondary monument to him. Around the “hill” are markers for local military personnel and their spouses. It is an especially good visit when the Christmas wreaths are laid on each stone.
