Chinatown is amazing, but I was pretty underwhelmed by Dragon’s Gate. Once you get past the gate though, you’re set with all kinds of food and market options.

I traveled alone so I got a small affordable room at the Grant Plaza hotel. It is one block from the dragon gate. I spent 3 days here and wanted to stay longer. Dimsam was awesome, the union square was 5 min walk, bays and...More

If you are meeting friends, The Dragon's Gate is a good spot. Easy to find and not too crowded. Nearby many San Francisco sites.

It's a gate in the entrance to Chinatown. Everyone takes pictures under it, and that's cool but that's all.

If you are going to see the sights, might as well add this icon to the list. The emerald gates welcome you to the entrance of Chinatown. Mostly just a photo op for a moment of “I was there”.

Good photo opportunity when it catches the late morning sun, lovely structure on the way into or out of China town. Worth going to see.

Unveiled in 1970 this lovely gateway had its materials donated by China. It beautifully marks the southern entrance to vibrant Chinatown. Each of the three gateways is decorated with green roof tiles and each has a Chinese aphorism inscription. Two Chinese guardian lions are to...More
