Live or recorded narrative offered historical credence to the ares traveled through. Live tour guide offered just that little bit more of local colour (I'm Canadian, that's how the work is properly spelled) and background.

We didn't realize that there are about four different hop on/off bus tours available. We have done many around the world, so the problem with this one is that it the tour guides tell you about the city and it is a hit and miss about what you are going to learn. I reallized late that we should have taken the bus that has the earphones and you hear about the history. Also there is a bit of wait as the time interval between the bus at certain places can be an hour long and in the mean time the the other company had six buses.

To say the least, I was disappointed. I booked a 2-day deluxe pass with an open mind for 4 adults. To be honest, I was underwhelmed by the whole experience. To begin with, the staff were slow at loading and off-loading passengers. A lot of time is therefore wasted on this tour. You are provided with free headsets. There is either a pre-recorded or live audio. Note, if it is live, sometimes the live audio is not always very clear, and it is difficult to understand what is being said. We did the complete the day circuit firstly, which took about 3 hours. Then decided on our stops. It’s a long day with repeated commentary. Note not all the stops are near the attractions such as Lombard Street and Coit Tower. If it’s raining avoid this tour as the lower deck gets cramped. If you buy the 2-day deluxe pass as soon as you activate it you have to complete the day, night and Sausalito tours in two consecutive days. If it rains that’s too bad. You lose out, unless you don’t mind walking around and sitting in the wet. The QR code on the paper tickets do not always scan on machine and sometimes the machines are not always operational. This adds to the delays. The night tour takes you across Bay bridge to Treasure island to look back at the city lights. This tour includes a 15-minute stop at café. This was a highlight to see the city at night. You have ‘honey shots’ in the city but the bus is going to fast to be able take good photos. We took an Uber to Twin Peaks, the Presidio and Golden Gate. It was inexpensive, direct and hassle free. This is worth considering when planning your vacation.

My and My family did a 2,5 hours bustour today with an excellent guide (William). William shared all his knowledge about San Fransisco in a very entertaining way. However, the way this bus company's salespeople were selling their Tours at Union square was really terrible. They lie about which company they work for and who their boss is. After you paid you realise that one of these sales guys were not representing the company they claimed they were. When I discovered it he just smiled at me as to say that He managed to fool me (he wrote the name Lucas on my broschure). Thanks to William, we were still happy with the day but this bus company needs to review the way their salespeople are working.
