About
Kō Hana Distillers is Hawai'i's first agricole rum distillery. We look forward to showing you our rich history through sight and taste. We hand-harvest throughout the year and press the cane to juice right at the distillery. No molasses or refined sugar in anything we do as we are a true farm-to-bottle rum distillery like no other in Hawaii. Started as a conservation farm in 2008, Kō Hana quickly became the largest conservator of native Hawaiian sugarcane in the world with over 30 named varieties each genetically tested for authenticity. We grow only heirloom varieties of sugarcane brought to Hawaii by Polynesian voyagers 1,000 years ago.

We visited here and purchased the tour and tasting package.

The tour was a little light. They did show us 2 places and tell us a little about the process, but seemed like it was only for a few minutes. The tour guide was very nice but there just wasn't very much to show.

The tasting was a lot better. It was fun trying the different types of rum the distillery offered. They even offered at Daiquiri tasting for my wife that doesn't like straight rum. They also gave us some honey and chocolate samples that were infused with their rum. Everything was great!

The gift shop / store was nice, but was a little stuffy. We visited early afternoon in September and there didn't seem to be any air conditioning. There were fans for the tasting bars so not bad there, but was uncomfortable when we were in the middle of the store.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would recommend it. The tour guide that took us on the tour and then served us at the rum tasting made my visit enjoyable. The tour could have been longer and the stuffiness of the gift shop brought my review down by 1 star.

We did the RTD tour yesterday. Our tour guide was Garret and he was the funniest, most entertaining guide we could ask for. The tour was very informative and quick which we enjoyed. They offer flights of the classic rums, RTD (Ready-To-Drink) and aged rums (Upgrade). We opted for a classic flight and the RTD flight and shared. We enjoyed our tour so much and were able to buy lots of souvenirs for our friends and family back home. Side note: this is the rum offered on the Hawaiian Airlines flights. Its so worth the try.

The converted building has an awesome feel. We came with some friends and had alot of fun. The tour has generous pours and great guides. I loved seeing the different sugarcane varieties on display. The merchandise is beautifully packaged and ships to several states.

I honestly never knew of this place up until a week ago. But as soon as I found out, we went online and booked a tour. We had a fantastic time. Thank you. Don’t miss out on picking up some of that hot sauce. What an unexpected surprise.

Great experience throughout! Such great hosts and really great tasting. You learn a lot about the aging process and how it transforms the spirits. Really fun with kids as they get their own personalized gelato tasting. Finish it up with Texas BBQ out back and you have a great time for all!

No kidding. There I was. Honolulu Airport. My flight had just been delayed for six hours. I didn't want to leave Honolulu at all anyway, but sitting in an airport for 6 hours was not what I had in mind. On a whim, my wife decided to look up small road trips we could take to pass the time. She found Ko Hana Distillers online and didn't have to twist my arm too much to get me to book an Uber away from the airport and on to adventure. I am not a fan of rums by any stretch of the imagination. I am generally a whiskey guy. Upon entering the distillers sale building, the sales people were extremely friendly. The tour was very informative. The guide for the tour really knew her rum and she really knew how to connect her knowledge of her rum with my love of whiskeys. After the formal tasting, she brought me a taste of something that wasn't on the tasting menu. She said, "You've GOTTA taste this. Trust me." She brought me the the Kila rum. It was the perfect choice for me. It went down like a sweet, smooth whiskey. Everything about it was...well...perfect. I ended up buying a couple of the bottles, as well as one I didn't try that was a deep ruby color, as it was aged in Koa wood barrels. (The Koa special edition that came with it's own koa wood box (~$300) was a bit too far out of my budget). My wife loved the Kokoleka rum which was infused with local Hawaiian cacao and honey, so we got some of that along with a bottle of the barrel aged honey. I love small little side adventures. This one was one of my favorites of all time. I can't wait to go back.

I live nearby the Napa Valley so stop by my favorite family-run wineries all the time. Unlike conglomerate-owned wineries, they let you get up close and personal with the wines.

Ko Hana is very similar in that you they put you in the face of their aging rums. They have dozens of varieties of cane in their garden and hundreds of barrels in their aging house. And unlike those conglomerates, they play around with their processes and aging to come up with what they call "Agricole Rum" where every batch has its own personality.

You can pay to taste a handful of their rums and you'll probably come away wanting to buy half of them. Their product is not inexpensive, but neither is it run of the mill. These are sippin' rums, not mixing rums. If I hear that you made a pina colada with one of their rums, I'll track you down myself! :-)

Bernadette was a great tour guide. She was interactive, shared great information AND rolled with the silliness of the group we ended up in. The tasting at the end included several of their fantastic runs…made it hard to decide what to purchase!

Been coming to Oahu for many years and just found out about Ko Hana Distillers on Oahu. We did the Tour and Tasting, it was very interesting and informative. We were given freshly squeezed juice from sugar cane which was very tasty at the beginning of the tour and our guide was very friendly and provided a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend going and learning about this Agricole Rum and if you are a local and didn't know about Ko Hana you should for sure go. We just got back on Monday and our shipment just arrived...perfect timing to pour a glass of their Rum:)
